All the Sámi characters are played by real life Sámi people.
Most of the slurs the boys shout at Elle Marja in her home village are actual things boys yelled at writer/director Amanda Kernell in her youth.
The title is a reference to Lappblod (1948), ie "Lapp blood". The "Lapp" is a old term for sami which is considered derogatory.
