“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland has addressed those who’ve made comments about her fluctuating weight with a powerful message about health. Hyland, who also appears in the ABC “Dirty Dancing” remake, which aired on Wednesday, posted a series of notes on Twitter ahead of the movie’s premiere. “I haven’t had the greatest year. Maybe one day I’ll talk about it but for now, I’d like my privacy,” she wrote. “I will say that this year has brought a lot of changes and with that, physical changes.” Hyland has received criticism from fans and others online for her weight.

The Modern Family star — who has previously talked about her battle with kidney dysplasia, which required a kidney transplant in 2012 — posted a series of notes on Twitter to explain that she’s been dealing with health issues over the last 12 months.

“I haven’t had the greatest year. Maybe one day I’ll talk about it but for now, I’d like my privacy. I will say that this year has brought a lot of changes and with that, physical changes,” Hyland, 26, writes.

The subgenre of sad, meaningless remakes has rarely managed to undertake a challenge less hopeful and less sought after than ABC‘s Dirty Dancing. Not only is the original a classic that is better left alone, it is from a class of “perfect storm” movies that only the truly clueless would dare touch again. That means that the best we might have hoped for is a passable bit of entertainment. Would that these were the best of times.

Though the film puts forward the idea that this incarnation will further explore the characters we are familiar with, it is practically a reshoot, as opposed to something you would want to legitimately label a remake. Scenes are not simply reminiscent of the original, they are superimpositions. Worse still, where the movie does diverge slightly (if memory serves), things only manage to become more comic.

She will play Lisa Houseman, Baby’s older sister who spends summer vacation with her family at the Catskill Mountains resort and falls for waiter Robbie. Sarah Hyland is joining an old-fashioned family.

The Modern Family actress has signed on to play Lisa Houseman, older sister to Abigail Breslin’s Baby, in ABC’s three-hour Dirty Dancing remake, TVLine has confirmed.

The Lisa role was played in the original film by Jane Brucker.

Deadline first reported the Breslin news.

Previously announced cast members include dancer Colt Prattes (as Johnny), The Mysteries of Laura‘s Debra Messing (as Baby’s mother, Marjorie Houseman) and former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger as Penny.
