Is the second most watched Disney Channel original movie of all time, second to High School Musical 2 (2007).
Both Descendants (2015) and Descendants 2 (2017) featured cover of song from one of the classic animated Disney films at one point. The first film had "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast (1991) whilst this film had "Kiss the Girl" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid (1989).
China Anne McClain has stated in an interview that during her "What's My Name" scene that the countertop that she had to dance on was so slippery that during rehearsals she fell several times.
This is the third time Cameron Boyce and China Anne McClain are working together. Their first time was Grown Ups (2010) and their second time was Grown Ups 2 (2013).
They filmed the Isle scenes in an old insane asylum, and everyone kept saying it was haunted.
