The Walking Dead spinoffs have had varying success, with some being forgettable and others expanding the universe effectively. Spinoffs like Passage and Flight 462 offer unique storylines but lack the depth and impact of the main show and other spinoffs. World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, and Dead City provide exciting developments and interesting characters, while Fear the Walking Dead is the best spinoff overall.
The Walking Dead has introduced many spinoffs over the years, with some becoming popular series and others scoring low ratings due to poor character development and dull storylines. The main show that birthed the entire franchise will always be the winner, but that doesn't mean The Walking Dead spinoffs didn't do a good job of expanding its universe and showing audiences other survivors, variant zombies, and communities in an increasingly dead world. Although the franchise has had countless successes throughout its lifetime, there have been failed projects too,...

Into the Spotlight, the coming-of-age musical based on a screenplay by teenager Kate Larson, who was just 15 years old when she wrote it, has found a home in North America.
The family feature — which stars Leigh-Allyn Baker (Good Luck Charlie), Karen Abercrombie (War Room), and Larson — has been acquired by Entertainment Squad, which has set a VOD release date of Sep. 1.
Directed by Lisa Arnold and executive produced by Cakki and Brian Warren of Revive Productions, Into the Spotlight centers on a high-schooler who grew up writing music with her rockstar dad but always preferred to stay out of the limelight. When her best friend isn’t able to perform, she steps in as her substitute at their high school talent show. For luck, she uses a vintage, glowing microphone that turns out to be enchanted. Her incredible performance goes viral and overnight she becomes a star. Discovering fame and losing herself along the way,...

This post contains spoilers for "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462."
Early in its eight-season run, AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" crossed over into a 16-part web series, "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462," which followed the breakout of the zombie apocalypse aboard a commercial flight bound for Phoenix, Arizona. In the series, Michelle Ang's character, Alex, is always one step ahead of the other passengers when it comes to dealing with "walkers." She can recognize the signs that a person is infected, knows when to tie them up or lock them in the restroom, and knows where to aim a gun or knitting needle in order to put one down.
In real life, however, Ang was much more in the dark than her character when it came to her place in the "Walking Dead" universe. "Flight 462" premiered in October 2015, the same day that "Fear the Walking Dead" wrapped up its first season.

It’s been almost 12 years since the first zombie trekked across our screen in the pilot episode of “The Walking Dead.” The journey has been long and sometimes extremely slow and drawn-out, but alas, it’s finally coming to a close.
It’s no wonder the series and its spinoffs have maintained such a huge following over the years. The series was already a hit in comic form, and after its debut in 2010 “The Walking Dead” became one of the biggest ratings hits on all of television, spawning spinoffs and web series to expand the universe.
Now that we’re coming to the end of the flagship “The Walking Dead” series (which is in its final season), it’s as good a time as any to go back and experience the entire universe as it unfolds in chronological order.

Master Chief is closer to landing a new commander.
David Wiener (“Brave New World”) is in talks to take over showrunner duties on Paramount Plus’ “Halo,” executive producer Justin Falvey announced on Tuesday during the TCA panel for the hotly anticipated video game adaptation.
Wiener’s status with the show remains in flux, as Paramount Plus has not yet officially renewed “Halo” for Season 2. A rep for the streamer says Wiener is one of multiple candidates for a possible showrunner position.
“Halo” is set to debut on the streamer on March 24.
Based on Microsoft’s billion-dollar blockbuster gaming franchise, “Halo” has weathered a fair amount of showrunner churn for a series of its magnitude. Kyle Killen first signed on to run the series in June 2018 when it was set up at Showtime, and Steven Kane joined in March 2019 to continue developing the series with Killen. As Variety reported in June 2021, however,...

On “Better Call Saul,” Rhea Seehorn plays Kim Wexler, the character with perhaps the show’s highest moral compass. But on her latest series, “Cooper’s Bar,” Seehorn has gone in a completely different direction.
“I’m an absolute asshole in it; I am horrible, which is fun,” she says. Actually, the marketing deck for “Cooper’s Bar” goes even further than that, calling Seehorn’s character, TV executive Kris, the “biggest dick in Hollywood.”
“It’s incredibly different from Kim Wexler,” she says. “It’s definitely fun, when I’m am churning and wringing hands about Kim Wexler, to be working on these scripts for ‘Cooper’s Bar’ and thinking about Kris, somebody that steps over recliners and just screams and yells at people and has no tact whatsoever.”

Alex is a character from Fear The Walking Dead that hardly features in the series but is still a favorite amongst fans, mainly because of her lead role in the prequel web series called Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462. The 2015 series recounts the events of a commercial airplane flight right in the early months of the zombie outbreak. Alex, along with her love interest Jake, survives the events of Flight 462, joining Fear The Walking Dead in Ouroboros, the third episode of the show's second season. She's rescued by Connor and goes on to join his gang of pirates.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 6
As far as idioms go, “jumping the shark” is a great way to mark a moment in time when something, especially a TV series, is no longer as cool as it used to be. This jumping of the shark can generally be traced back to a single episode, or even one defining moment. In the case of Fear the Walking Dead, that moment arrives in “The Little Prince,” as a hot air balloon shaped like a bottle of craft beer. A bottle of Augie’s Ale, to be exact. That this same hot air balloon crash-lands inside a radioactive hot zone could very well sum up the way this once-entertaining show is crashing and burning just six hours into its troubled fifth season.

Digital producers cheered last year when the Television Academy expanded its short-form programming categories. But then they saw the nominees and winners.
Most of last year’s short form contenders didn’t come from digital-first producers or platforms, but came from traditional networks and talent. Adult Swim’s “Childrens Hospital” led all nominees, followed by the History channel’s “The Crossroads of History” and AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462.”
“Childrens Hospital” ultimately won the Outstanding Series category, which included just one independent contender: “Her Story,” about two transgender women living in Los Angeles. Besides “Crossroads of History” and “Flight 462,” the two other nominees were behind-the-scenes looks at popular TV shows: “Hack into Broad City” and “UnREAL The Auditions.”
In the short form nonfiction or reality series, another marketing series won, FX’s “Inside Look: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”

The Television Academy unveiled the inaugural nominees for its expanded short form programming categories Thursday morning – and it was dominated by programming from familiar broadcast and cable network sources.
Adult Swim’s “Childrens Hospital” lead the pack with four nominations, while History’s “The Crossroads of History” and AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462” each received two. Fear The Walking Dead intersects with its Flight 462 webisode in its latest instalment, Ouroboros...
This review contains spoilers.
2.3 Ouroboros
The Walking Dead was one of the shows at the forefront of the second screen experience. I think they had the first app designed for people to poke around on while watching a show. I can't remember for sure, so that might not be true, but it's definitely one of the first I used and it remains one of the more noteworthy examples of the attempt by television to integrate phones and tablets into the viewing experience. Fittingly, The Walking Dead also has a strong presence in online video, with multiple Walking Dead websiodes. However, while you've seen characters from the original series expanded upon in the webisodes (Bicycle Girl from the first season), there hasn't been any cross-over in the other direction.
That's all changing thanks to...

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...
