The pilot was made for USA Network, but then shopped around until Hulu bought it and gave it a full season.
The whole season was written in advance, so scenes from different episodes were shot in a row, based on the location available.
Arthur uses a wide variety of nicknames for Julie: Noodles (most common), Lava Lamp, Mousepad, Candles, Splenda, Pushpin, Lozenge, Spinach, Rubber Mat, Vitamix, Kiddush Cup, Time Stamp, Pollen Count, Wiffle Bat, Waterbug, Tap Shoe, Pen Cap, String Cheese, Duct Tape, Eye Shadow Palette, Paint Chip, Kleenex, Loophole, Blue Ray, Bank Holiday, Extended Release, Act Break, Red Band Trailer, Pumpkin Seed, Signature Cocktail, Rental Agreement, Scene Partner, Dry Run, Loose Change, Credit Sequence, Farm-to-table, Terms of Service, Bank Pen, Snapple Facts, Cinnamon Challenge, Bottle Episode, and a few others that closed captioning wasn't too sure about.
Although repeatedly mentioned by her mother in the context that he's not far away, Julies' father never makes an appearance in the show.
