Tagline: "Post-Brexit, Post-Trump, Post-Mortem." A slew of new trailers have been released as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Paul Raschid's White Chamber will be in attendance. The festival begins this Summer, in late June. And, White Chamber is a sci-fi thriller, in which Britain is experiencing a civil war. The film stars: Shauna Macdonald, Oded Fehr (Resident Evil: Extinction) and Candis Nergaard. An official trailer, for the film, is available here. The trailer shows characters undergoing a number of tortures. These white rooms can introduce extreme temperatures, fire and even acid. As the characters are exposed to each harshness, they search for a way to overthrow their captors. Long time Shannara fans have reason to rejoice. Thanks to the series producers Sonar Entertainment and MTV, author Terry Brooks' Shannara has come to life. Based upon his second novel, "The Elfstones of Shannara," The Shannara Chronicles is an engaging new television series that premieres on MTV on January 5. Cast with some terrific young actors it's a good bet to be a hit with MTV fans who know nothing of Brooks' novels. Shot on location in New Zealand, it has beautiful scenery, breathtaking cinematography and an impressively talented and good looking cast. (Elves are supposed to be beautiful, no?) The set design is spectacular; wait until you see the Sacred Garden and the Ellcrys.

The moors of Yorkshire turned red with blood this weekend as the first ever HorrorCon took place at the Magna Science Adventure Centre this weekend in Rotherham.

Indie Brit-flick Unhallowed Ground, which we called “an unexpected gem…” (review) has scooped the Best Horror Film award at the prestigious 12th London Independent Film Festival. The 11-day annual festival hosted at the Shortwave and Genesis cinemas in London, showcased over 60 of the best of low and micro budget films from the UK and abroad and Unhallowed Ground a supernatural-thriller-horror directed by Russell England, stood out in its category.

Obtaining the ‘Best Horror Film’ accolade was not the only gong picked up this weekend. Two of the film’s stars were also applauded at the prestigious British Independent Film Festival held at the Empire Leicester Square. Marcus Griffiths won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award for his portrayal of feisty Aki Adebola, while co-star Rachel Petladwala was voted ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role as sporty student Meena Shah.

Six late teen/early twenties from North London single-sex private schools spend a night patrolling the eerie grounds of the historic Dhoultham School as part of an initiative with the British Army to provide rich kids with basic military training. As each hour passes and the teenagers complete their mundane tasks, they witness a series of increasingly disturbing occurrences: slamming doors, self-governing lights and ghostly apparitions.

As they spend more and more time together, personal conflicts are magnified and the School’s history erupts onto the surface of proceedings.
