New six part series following 16 year old Jonny Murphy and his friends coming of age in Welwyn Garden City with a focus on Jonny's mental health issues and journey.
Personally I was a bit confused by the tone of this and the balance of comedy and drama. Some of the humour around what happens to his father in the opening episode felt a bit unconvincing.
I think the audience for it will be fans of Skins, Hollyoaks and Ackley Bridge, shows that have social issue themes and are a bit soapy with it. It did have pace and energy and the teen banter felt authentic.
Production values were cheap and cheerful and there was a problem with the sound recording of the dialogue in a few scenes. I think his voiceovers were a bit clunky and they got a bit carried away with the hand-held camera.
Overall not a huge hit or miss for me, will be interesting to see how Jonny's story pans out and the supporting characters develop, it could go either way.
