Stumbling upon the 2021 Argentinean horror movie "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" (aka "Welcome to Hell") here late in 2022, of course I opted to sit down and watch it without ever having heard about it. I do believe in giving a movie a fair chance, even if never having heard about it. And with "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" being a horror movie, of course I had to watch it given my fascination with horror.
Right, well first of all with calling this a horror movie might be stretching the term. This was more of a drama thriller laced with some light elements of supernatural horror. I sat down to watch "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" with the expectations of it being a horror movie, especially with that title, so I was somewhat disappointed with the outcome of the movie.
And with that being said, don't get me wrong because "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" wasn't exactly a bad movie, it was just something very different from what I had expected. Writers Camilo De Cabo, Nicanor Loreti and Jimena Monteoliva delivered a rather monotonous script here. Nothing much of anything overly exciting happened throughout the 90 minutes that the movie ran for, most of the movie was essentially just watching Lucia (played by Constanza Cardillo) sitting around and waiting.
The acting performances in the movie were good. Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble here, as I have only seen a couple of Argentinean movies. But I will say that it was a good cast ensemble where the actors and actresses carried the movie well enough with their performances.
For a horror movie then "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" fell rather short. If you enjoy slow paced thrillers then you might get a kick out of director Jimena Monteoliva's movie.
My rating of "Bienvenidos Al Infierno" lands on a four out of ten stars.
