So this film starts like a Sunday light comedy. But please preserve, because this is simply a clever part of the overall theme. The lead plays a very depressing unengaged character, but when the story develops, you realise how beautifully subverted this film is. Personally, I think this film is genius. The story, and the directing. If you only watched half of it, you'd think the film flimsy. After the second half, it's not that it improves, it's that you realise you've been lulled into this false belief that it's just a down and out guy woth mild depression who's pretending to be someone else.
For me, an original idea with a very unique delivery. Also some very touching moments and really some nice writing. Who is this film for? Hmmm, definitely not action or for kids. I think it appeals to artists and those who like something subtly quirky. It is absolutely not superficial or typical Hollywood in its delivery or story. If you're an intelligent artistic adult that's not looking for an action film, please watch this, and persevere to the end. I can see this director will get accolades in the future. Such a great relief from cartoon movies and staged dramas. Acting? Apart from the lead, I'd say average, but the film still fits together beautifully. Could even be a modern classic.
