Nicholas D. Celano is an Italian Director based in London, Uk.
His background started from being a tattoo artist for over 10 years, and after moving to China for 2 years to practice martial arts and study Chinese culture he developed an interest in film and telling stories, which led him to start pursuing a career in filmmaking.
His practice is heavily influenced by Asian and Italian culture and filmmakers such as Wong Kar Wai, Takeshi Kitano, Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni and Paolo Sorrentino, artists that reflect and resonate with him for his obsessive curiosity about the world we live in and the desire to explore the complexities of human behaviour and existence.
Through his art, whether filmmaking, photography or illustration he strives to create visual narratives that provoke questions, and emotions and spark a meaningful conversation within the self.
His work, conceptually, delves into themes of identity, memory and passage of time; captivated by the complexities of human relationships and behaviour, the multiple layers of personal history that shape each of us, and the constant evolution of our identities. His character is often people on the verge of existence, borderline people or people that don't fit in modern society but try to hold on to their life as much as possible.
Through experimentation and versatility, He try to explore different mediums apart from filmmaking, such as photography, painting, illustration, sculpture, writing, movement expression and mixed media, allowing himself to a state of freedom that bush his boundaries, challenging conventions and continually evolving as an artist. His ultimate goal as an artist is to create authentic work that resonates with the viewer, inviting him to introspection, wonder and creating a space for dialogue and reflection, where art becomes a catalyst for personal and societal transformation. He believes that the viewer will have to venture into the piece of art as a moment of prayer, where we connect with something that is behind sight, sound and tact, starting, ultimately a conversation with our deepest self.
His own experience and extensive tapestry of life are what he draws inspiration from, seeking to capture moments of profound significance and transform them into a tangible expression of art, believing in the power of art to transcend boundaries, bridge differences and connect people on a deep internal level.
