“Paris Has Fallen” immerses viewers in the sumptuous yet politically tense atmosphere of the British Embassy in Paris, contrasting diplomatic etiquette with the chaos of terrorism. This backdrop is more than just a stage; it represents the delicate ties between nations, particularly in a post-9/11 world when trust can be a façade.
The series is a spin-off from the blockbuster “Has Fallen” film franchise, which, although widely derided by reviewers, has carved itself a niche in contemporary action filmmaking by combining explosive thrills with a critique of world politics.
The narrative revolves around Jacob Pearce, a character-driven by a desire for vengeance after being betrayed by his country during a terrible service in Afghanistan. His motivations are complicated, grounded in themes of grief and betrayal that resonate with contemporary societal anxieties about loyalty and national identity.

"Move fast, kill the bad guys." Which is usually the best strategy. Hulu has debuted a new official trailer for the French action series called Paris Has Fallen, which is streaming in the US in December. It already launched a few months ago in France. As the trailer directly points out, this is a TV continuation of the "Has Fallen" franchise of movies - which includes Olympus Has Fallen (2013), London Has Fallen (2016), Angel Has Fallen (2019). Did we really need more of these stories as a TV series? A protection officer and an MI6 operative team up after a terrorist attack strikes Paris. They suspect a mole as they race to thwart a larger conspiracy from a madman threatening Paris. The plot follows protection officer Vincent Taleb who finds himself working with street-smart MI6 agnet Zara Taylor to save the day. The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy landed on Netflix the other week, and while we generally enjoyed it, a great many fans had issues. (Beware Spoilers below.)
One of the big issues fans had was that the relationship between Diego (David Castañeda) and Lila (Ritu Arya) petered out; between seasons, their marriage became stale and passionless, and we catch up with them around the time Lila and Diego's brother Number 5 (Aidan Gallagher) have an affair. Even Castañeda was ticked about it when he first read the scripts. "I was pissed off,” the actor said earlier this month. “I was angry. I talked to [showrunner] Steve [Blackman] a few times. I was like, ‘Hey, does this really have to happen?’”
But some time has given him perspective, as has the wave of online criticism directed against the show. In a more recent interview on the I’ve Never Said...

[This story contains major spoilers for The Umbrella Academy‘s fourth and final season.]
Though The Umbrella Academy‘s finale left many fans in turmoil earlier this month, show star David Castañeda isn’t worried. In fact, he thinks the backlash is a good thing.
In the final season of Netflix’s quirky superhero drama, fans saw the relationship between Castañeda’s Diego Hargreeves and Ritu Arya’s Lila fade into a morose, passionless marriage that eventually led to romance between Lila and Diego’s brother, Number Five, played by Aidan Gallagher. Many online commenters called the plot point unnecessary and complained that its development felt rushed in comparison to the years-long buildup of Diego and Lila.
“I really love that they are always taking chances,” Castañeda says, addressing the pushback, in an exclusive preview obtained by The Hollywood Reporter of Tuesday’s episode of the I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy Didario podcast.

This article contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy season 4.
For the past four seasons, The Umbrella Academy has repeatedly put its main characters through the same cycle: Uncover personal and family trauma, save the world, rinse and repeat. There was hope that the final season of the show might finally see the Hargreeves siblings find the happy ending they so desperately craved and deserved. But as much as the cheery demeanor of the series’ final sequence wants you to believe that this is the happiest ending these messy, complicated misfits could have hoped for, in reality, it’s a slap in the face to all that these characters have endured.
From their immaculate Marigold conception to their subsequent adoption and training by Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), the Umbrella Academy has collectively been through an immense amount of trauma. When we first see them as adults in season 1, it’s clear...

Can you believe that The Umbrella Academy has come to an end after four seasons. Netflix gave this series a chance to wrap up its storylines, and it did not disappoint.
Admittedly, the fourth season was a little rushed with only six episodes to it. However, the ending brought growth, emotion, and closure for many individuals in the series.
It’s now time to rank the seasons from worst to best. Could the first season be beaten? Did the fourth season end the series on a high? Here is my ranking of all four seasons.

The fourth and final season of Netflix's offbeat superhero dramady The Umbrella Academy is available to watch now, and while we found some things to like about the show's swan song, fan reception has been dismal. To give you an idea of what I mean, for the first three seasons, the lowest rating for an episode on IMDb is 6.9, with many getting respectable scores in the 8+ range. In the fourth season, the ratings drop and finally crater with a score of 5.1 for the series finale.
Fans have taken aim at plot holes, sloppy writing, and one particular subplot where the character of Five (Aidan Gallagher) starts up a relationship with Lila (Ritu Arya), who happens to be married to Five's brother Diego (David Castañeda). "So I finished watching the last season of The Umbrella Academy and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement," said one fan on Reddit before...

For four seasons, fans have been waiting for the multiple timeline–spanning mysteries in The Umbrella Academy to unravel.
Luckily, by the time we reach the end of the series, the timeline has finally aligned and we get some answers. Like, how did Ben (Justin H. Min) die? What is the Jennifer Incident? And where do the Brellies — Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Five (Aidan Gallagher), Ben, Viktor (Elliot Page), and Lila (Ritu Arya) — end up?

Lila Pitts joined the main crew of characters of The Umbrella Academy back in Season 2, and may be the most powerful character in the Netflix series.
Described in Season 4 by Klaus as "weirdly self-actualized, as far as [he] can tell," Lila (played by Ritu Arya) is witty and reckless, but deep down truly loving.
Many fans felt disappointed with how Lila's story arc concluded at the end of Season 4, with major changes to her overall emotional journey and values as a person.

Steve Blackman’s adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s superhero family comic book series completes its run on Netflix on August 8th, 2024 with the finale of ‘The Umbrella Academy’. At its premiere event at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Boulevard earlier in the week, audiences got to experience the first episode of the fourth and final season, just a taste of what’s to come for our gang of siblings-turned-superheroes. ‘The Umbrella Academy’ follows the misadventures of the Hargreeves siblings, all adopted by the mysterious Reginald Hargreeves, as they are pulled through time to stop the apocalypse in different timelines and eras. Season four begins back in the present, finally! But, it’s the wrong timeline, corrupted by an incomplete reset attempt by Reginald, and they’ve all lost their superpowers. The Hargreeves know they’re not in the right present day, but somehow, so do some civilians,...

The Umbrella Academy stems from a cult comic book series, transporting its oddball ensemble to the screen with colorful flair. Led by the eccentric billionaire “Monocle,” who adopted seven infants with super abilities, the Umbrella Academy follows the now-adult siblings as they try to stop doomsday devices. Each brings unique powers, from telekinesis to speaking with the dead and fighting with acrobatic action scenes alongside quirky gadgets.
We’re introduced to Viktor able to generate pure energy, nervous yet caring Luther with tremendous strength, and fiery Diego skilled in knife throwing. The ever-enthusiastic Klaus connects to spirits while logical Five zips through time and space. Allison alters reality with the whisper of “I heard a rumor” and Ben merges with a shadowy monster. Steeped in sibling rivalry, they reunite against mounting threats too bizarre even for this strange world. From murderous mannequins to alternate timelines, each mission spirals further into madness.

While fans and critics remain apprehensive about showrunner Steve Blackman’s choice to kill off our heroes in order to save the multiverse once and for all, the cast had a slightly more optimistic take on the ending … for the most part.

Note: There are spoilers for “The Umbrella Academy” Season 4 below.
“The Umbrella Academy” just signed off with its fourth and final season, and the Netflix series brought it all to an end with a happy reunion — of sorts. The series ends with a singular, happier timeline created thanks to the Hargreeves siblings’ sacrifice – and it’s full of familiar faces.
After the siblings realize that the marigold giving them their powers is also what’s causing the world to end repeatedly, they agree to let The Cleanse erase them from ever existing. This results in one unified, seemingly much better timeline.
The show ends with a pan around a park where we see a number of familiar faces from the series’ run; all living much better, safer lives. Showrunner Steve Blackman told TheWrap it was a lot of phone calls, but he ended up getting almost everyone he wanted for the scene.

The Umbrella Academy officially came to an end with the release of season 4 on Aug. 8, 2024. We've known since August 2022 that The Umbrella Academy season 4 would be the final season of the Netflix original series.
We watched all six episodes and shared our take on The Umbrella Academy ending that's the topic of debate online. We also wanted to share why the fifth season isn't happening despite many more volumes of The Umbrella Academy graphic novel series from Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba in the works.
The Umbrella Academy was meant to run for four seasons
Well, it sounds like the plan for showrunner Steve Blackman was for the series to run for four seasons. That's what Blackman originally pitched to Netflix, according to a report from TV Line. The report was published in June 2022, two months before the show was renewed for its fourth and final season.

On “The Umbrella Academy,” it was always about the end of the world. From the very first episode of the Netflix based on the comic by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, the superpowered siblings at the center were tasked with saving the world from themselves — again, and again, and again.
So it was only fitting that the series finale — aptly titled “End of the Beginning” — would tackle this problem head on, forcing Viktor (Elliot Page), Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Alison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Ben (Justin H. Min), and Five (Aidan Gallagher) to reckon with their own role in all the catastrophes they’ve witnessed and how they can set it all right once and for all. They broke the timeline just by being born, and the only way to stop infinite timelines and world-ending debacles is to remove themselves from the equation.

“The Umbrella Academy” came to a close with its Season 4 finale this week, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few last threads worth explaining.
The shortened final season still jammed quite a bit into just six episodes and the finale, in particular, was fit to burst. The story followed the Hargreeves siblings facing off once and for all with The Keepers in order to stop The Cleanse from ending the universe. The Keepers’ hope was that The Cleanse would end the many broken timelines once and for all, ensuring the main one was restored.
Five (Aidan Gallagher) learns in the finale — in a diner full of his variants, no less — that the marigold that arrived on Earth with Reginald (Colm Feore) and granted the Hargreeves siblings their powers branched the main timeline into the multiverse. Five is...

Through four seasons on Netflix, the big draw of “The Umbrella Academy” was getting to watch its uniquely crafted characters interact with one another in increasingly bizarre, mindbending scenarios.
As sibling superheroes with varying powers, the core cast proudly displayed their complicated interpersonal dynamics regardless of whatever world-ending drama was going on in the background. However, with so many actors on the call sheet, it was unfeasible for every single possible pairing to get their moment in the spotlight.
In honor of the final season’s release, stars Elliot Page, David Castañeda, Justin H. Min, Aidan Gallagher, Ritu Arya, Tom Hopper and Robert Sheehan handpicked which of their fellow cast members they wished they got to interact with more onscreen.

Not many series finales feel like series finales nowadays. The streaming era’s abundance of options compels TV shows to leave the door open on their way out, inviting some other network or streamer to decide their story isn’t quite done.
That is decidedly not the case for Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. The season 4 finale of this superhero saga operates as a definitive conclusion for the show’s characters and their world. No longer bound to the incomplete comic source material penned by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, showrunner Steve Blackman and his writers’ room conjure up an ultimate end for the Hargreeves family.
Here is how The Umbrella Academy series finale says goodbye to Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Five (Aidan Gallagher), Ben (Justin H. Min), Viktor (Elliot Page), and more.

Stripped of their powers, each is left to fend for themselves and find a new normal — with wildly varying degrees of success. Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. Their father, Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire. A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming. The Umbrella Academy Fans Are Not on Board with Five and Lila's Whirlwind Romance - Main Image
The Umbrella Academy season 4 took a wrong turn with Five and Lila's 'brief love story' and fans are getting the ick from it. Apart from having no connection to the main story, the age gap doesn't look right at all. Do they end up together? What happened to them at the series finale?
Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Netflix's The Umbrella Academy season 4, so proceed with caution.
The Umbrella Academy's Five and Lila 'Ship' Flew Too Close To the Sun
The Umbrella Academy season 4 episode 5 titled Six Years, Five Months and Two Days sees Five (played by Aidan Gallagher) and Lila (Ritu Arya) attempt to travel back to their universe's timeline.
However, things get weird pretty quickly when they get stuck between alternate timelines for seven years.

Picking up where we left off in episode 2, The Umbrella Academy season 4 episode 3 gives us a little background on Jennifer, though it creates more questions than answers. The Hargreeves go to Reginald for an explanation, while Klaus navigates life with powers again. We break down the biggest moments from "The Squid and the Girl" right here!
Warning: Major spoilers for The Umbrella Academy season 4 episode 3 are below.
The opening of the third episode of season 4 shows us a news broadcast, where two fishermen have caught a huge squid. As they talk to an interviewer about their catch, they realize there's something inside of it trying to get out. When they cut open the squid, they're all completely shocked to find a little girl inside. When they ask her if she knows what's happened, all she says is: "The Cleanse." Creepy! A quick shot of Reginald is seen in the background.

The second episode of The Umbrella Academy season 4 takes place the morning after the Hargreeves siblings' dinner together, and they're feeling serious effects of those marigold shots.
Warning: Major spoilers for The Umbrella Academy season 4 episode 2 are below.
Luther wakes up, feeling incredibly hungover, and when he goes to work his boss suspects he's on drugs. He begins a performance and realizes he somehow has impressive strength, dancing with women in the audience and picking them up. His powers are coming back, of course, but he doesn't realize it yet. Diego delivers packages and is also amused by his strength, finding the ability to throw mail into mailboxes perfectly without having to get out of the truck. Five accidentally blinks (a.k.a. teleports) and takes a sick day from the CIA office, unsure of what's going on.

For the Hargreeves siblings, the end of the world is getting a little old hat. After all, they’ve thwarted an impending apocalypse every season since “The Umbrella Academy” premiered on Netflix in 2019 (nevermind that they’ve also inadvertently caused all of them), so it makes sense that after sidestepping the kugelblitz at the end of Season 3, they’d be ready for a break.
That’s where we meet them at the beginning of Season 4, which picks up six years after we last saw the dysfunctional family stumble into a new reality where none of them had superpowers. For some, such as Viktor (Elliot Page) and Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), getting to live life as regular humans was a relief. For others, who defined themselves by their superhuman abilities, “normal” life presented a unique challenge, and they struggled to adapt. But after six years, they’ve all settled into their new,...

Coming out of the boom of superhero movies and television, The Umbrella Academy proved Netflix could hit a different tone. Often irreverent and always emotional, the Gerard Way-penned adaptation thrived as a critique of the X-Men. Simultaneously, showrunner Steve Blackman ensured the same concerns of sex, drugs, and teenage angst carried over from the comics to the small screen. With Season 4 serving as its final season, The Umbrella Academy continues its antiques, but a rushed finale leaves us wanting a little more.
