Ricard Balada was born June 7, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. At the age of 6, he moved to a small village called Sta. Mª de Martorelles where he grow up around nature. His passion for theatre and cinema made him constantly go to Barcelona and was there, where he studied and began his professional acting career in a Theatre Company (2015-18) called Magatzem d'Ars and working with the director Denise Castro starring her first movie Salvación (2016) (premiered in Sitges Film Festival). After that, they travel to Bran (Romania) to create and shoot in Transylvania an special movie about vampires called Drácula de Denise Castro (2018).
His trajectory has grown up with different roles in movies and series like Oh My Goig (2017) - a five season series about sex education - Com si fos ahir (2017) by TVC/TV3, The Legacy of the Bones (2019), Moros a la costa! (2019) or playing the young painter in El Cas Àngelus. La fascinació de Dalí (2024). Nowadays he is expanding his career internationally participating in Roads (2019) - starring by Fionn Whitehead and directed by Sebastian Schipper ("Victoria") - and he has just wrapped on Lionsgate's new comedy drama The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) starring by Nicholas Cage, Pedro Pascal and Neil Patrick Harris. In February, he has been the unique Spanish actor selected in Berlinale Talents 2023.
Last year, he was selected in the initiative Catalyst for Talent as one of the four catalan actors to promote internationally (created by Acadèmia del Cinema Català and Diplocat) and received the New Talent Award '22 from Begur Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cinema de la Costa Brava).
Ricard is member of Catalan Film Academy (Acadèmia del Cinema Català) and Spanish Film Academy (Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España) since 2018 and last year 2023, he was invited to become a member of the European Film Academy. He was also member of the Official Jury in Festival de Cine de Zaragoza '19 and FIC-CAT '22 (Festival Internacional de Cinema en Català) and in the International Basta Best '23 in Serbia.
