Kate grew up in an A-frame house on a dirt road in rural Georgia. Like many actors who enter the industry without family connections, she first worked her way up in other departments on film sets, and was a stylist and costume designer before booking her first professional acting role opposite Tim Roth on Lie to Me. She then worked opposite Jim Caviezel on Person of Interest and Oprah and Rose Byrne on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. She booked her first recurring role on Matador, had a thirteen episode recurring role on MacGyver, and has been a guest star on Good Trouble, Gone, Magnum PI and Chicago Med.
Kate is on the Los Angeles Local Board of SAG-AFTRA and worked on President Obama's first presidential campaign and Congressman Ami Bera's first congressional campaign.
