Tubi and the BBC have confirmed the Season 2 cast for the teen dramedy Boarders, which is on track for a 2025 release (Stateside on Tubi).
Created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who co-stars as Gus, Boarders follows five talented, Black, inner-city teens transported to “an alien world” — a British boarding school — after gaining scholarships to the prestigious St. Gilbert’s. They then set out to make the most out of the opportunity, despite their places only being offered as a poorly-disguised PR exercise to improve the reputation of the school.

Absentia's fate has been decided, and it's not good news for fans holding on to hope for new episodes.
The hit Amazon thriller is over, with the recent third season serving as its conclusion.
Stana Katic broke the news on Twitter Friday, revealing that the plan was always for three seasons, but there was a possibility of more.
The former Castle actress said that “although we’ve danced with the idea of continuing the tale, Absentia was always meant to be only three seasons, and I couldn’t think of a better note to end on… for any person on this planet, but especially [Katic’s character] Emily and her loved ones.”
The series told the story of FBI special agent Emily Byrne who disappeared without a trace while hunting one of Boston's most notorious serial killers, and she is declared dead in absentia.

French multi-hyphenate Amanda Sthers (“Holy Lands”) has recruited the U.K.’s Kelly Reilly, Italy’s Pierfrancesco Favino and France’s Jean Reno for English-language romantic drama “Promises,” set in Italy and London, which started shooting in Rome on Monday.
Based on Sthers’ novel by the same title, “Promises” turns on an unfulfilled love affair between Alexander, played by Favino — who won best actor at Venice last year for his role in Italian drama “Padrenostro” — and Laura, played by Reilly.
Commenting on her casting choices, Sthers in a statement noted that she grew up watching movies from around the globe and therefore “allowed myself to choose talent over everything else, and wanted the global sentiment of the film reflected in casting.”
“Together, Favino and Reilly look like a quintessential cinematic couple bringing a sense of timelessness to our story,” Sthers added.

Having made a name for themselves on Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, respectively, Cara Theobold and Gethin Anthony now join forces in sweet, indie romantic drama Around the Sun, directed by Oliver Krimpas. It couldn’t be more different from their previous experiences, for this is a single setting, two-hander – more reminiscent of stage work. When we had the pleasure of speaking to the duo on Zoom last week, we wanted to discuss just how fun a shoot it was for them, and unique an experience.
We also talk about how cool it would be to be a location scout, and they both recount their experiences on the major shows where they made their name. We also get onto future plans, and just how productive they’ve been in lockdown, and what exciting new ventures they both have coming up.
Watch the full interview with Cara and Gethin below:

Shot a few years ago in Normandy and shown at a few small film festivals back in the Before Times of 2019, this intimate and yet deliciously cerebral romance perfectly suits the lockdown mood of 2020. There are effectively only two, socially distant characters (if you don’t count the chap in golfing kit who passes fleetingly through silently towards the end).
English northerner Maggie is a young estate agent way too smart for the job. She has been assigned to show posh-spoken location scout Bernard (Game of Thrones alumnus Gethin Anthony) around an empty chateau. As they amble through the rooms and grounds, she explains to him how this was where Bernard le Bovier de Fontenelle conceived his sui generis book Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds (a real thing indeed) in the...

It took awhile but Amazon has officially picked up a second season of thriller Absentia starring and executive produced by Castle alumna Stana Katic. It will debut in 2019 on Prime Video in the U.S., as well as in select markets globally, including Australia, Austria, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and the U.K.
New cast members joining season two — currently filming in Sofia, Bulgaria — include Matthew Le Nevez (The Widow) and Natasha Little (The Night Manager). Patrick Heusinger returns for season two as Emily’s (Katic) ex-husband and Special Agent Nick Durand. Absentia was commissioned for Sony Pictures Television’s international networks. It is produced by Masha Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
Soon after Absentia’s Amazon debut in February, speculation started about a Season 2 renewal. In anticipation of a pickup, Sony last spring got the writers back together to work on scripts.

Casting has been announced for Crazy Face, a bold new comedy horror series from the BAFTA award-winning creator of ‘Misfits’ Howard Overman, which begins filming this week in Bristol.
Filled with Overman’s dark humour and unexpected twists, Crazy Face is described as a funny, gripping series about friendship, love and facing your demons that follows the angst and exorcisms of an unlikely duo of demon hunters.
26 year old Cara Theobold stars as Amy, an unlikely demon-hunter who works in a bowling alley and never really imagined herself battling the legions of hell. When people die most go quietly into the night. But some have unfinished business: scores to settle, blood to spill, axes to plant in people's heads...These tormented souls work through their issues by possessing the living. Most of the time they walk freely amongst us, unseen by all but a special few and Amy is one of those few.

Jonny Sweet's new sitcom Together debuts tonight - and the comedian has claimed the show might never have been made without BBC Three.
Sweet has created, written and stars in the romantic comedy series - his first solo television effort - and told Digital Spy that BBC Three is vital for giving fresh talent a shot.

"From the moment I read The Syndicate scripts, I knew that it was a job that I had to get."
Richard Rankin was so eager to land a part in the third series of Kay Mellor's anthology drama series, he turned down other acting jobs before he'd even booked his role as Sean.
"Even though it wasn't even set in stone that I was going to be doing it, I was so of passionate about doing it, because I instantly fell in love with the scripts and Kay's writing."
Mellor herself was apparently just as keen to land Rankin, tailoring the part of groomsman / odd-job man Sean to the actor - changing the character from a Northerner to a Scot.
In the new six-part series, Sean is one of the few remaining employees of a Lord and Lady Hazelwood, working to maintain the once-magnificent Hazelwood Manor - now fallen into disrepair.

After starring in series three, four and five of Downton, Ed Speleers left Jimmy Kent behind for another role in a big budget British TV drama.
We most recently saw him in the part of Edward Seymour in Wolf Hall, and he will also star in upcoming films Remainder and Howl. Most prominently, he's been cast alongside Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter in Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.
