The first season of Netflix's long-awaited Neil Gaiman adaptation The Sandman was, aptly, the stuff dreams are made of. Blurring the lines between serialised and episodic storytelling, and operating - aptly - in an almost dreamlike mode throughout its duration, the streamer's take on Gaiman's legendarily lore-filled 75-comic dark fantasy was the perfect introduction to the tale of Tom Sturridge's Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, and his Endless siblings. And with Season 2 already in production, today Netflix have announced a slew of exciting new additions to the cast for the upcoming series.
Playing characters from The Sandman collections Season Of Mists and Brief Lives, the cohort assembled to help usher in our return to the dream world includes *deep breath* Ruairi O'Connor (The Morning Show) as poet Orpheus, Game Of Thrones alumnus Clive Russell and Jack Gleeson as Odin and malevolent hobgoblin Puck respectively, Freddie Fox (Slow Horses) as God of Chaos Loki,...

The Sandman is Morpheus, also known as Dream of the Endless. And the Endless never end, right? I mean, it’s right there in the name.
Yet, with the show’s latest casting announcement, it’s clear that producers of the Netflix series The Sandman have the end in mind. The latest characters to appear in the series include some major players in Neil Gaiman‘s climactic tale World’s End, including Morpheus’s son Orpheus, Puck from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Norse gods Loki, Thor, and Odin.
Orpheus will be played by Ruairi O’Connor, best known for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Morning Show. Comic book readers know Orpheus as the son of Morpheus and Calliope, the muse kidnapped by insecure writers in the episode bearing her name. After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end, and a couple months ago we heard that new cast additions include Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. Now the names of several more new cast members and characters have been revealed:

"He's proving to be quite the distraction." Goldwyn Films debuts this indie romance on VOD in December, after its initial small theatrical debut in September in both the UK and US. Surprised by Oxford marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Ryan Whitaker, who's adapting the story found in the memoir by Carolyn Weber. Brilliant but emotionally-guarded Caro arrives in Oxford with the singular goal of attaining her PhD, but through a turbulent friendship with a charming young man she begins to open herself up to mystery, vulnerability, and love. Headlined by Rose Reid, the film takes viewers on a transformative and tumultuous journey. The cast includes Ruairi O'Connor as her lover, Phyllis Logan, Mark Williams, Simon Callow, with Emma Naomi, Michael Culkin, and Annabelle Holloway. This doesn't seem all that bad for a romance, featuring a bit less camp than usual, plus strong performances and intense passion. // Continue Reading...

Royal Rendezvous is definitely not the kind of rom-com you’ll see on every channel, as the trailer TV Insider is exclusively debuting shows. In E!‘s scripted movie, starring Isabella Gomez, Ruairi O’Connor, and Ronan Raftery and premiering on Sunday, February 26, an East L.A. chef, Cat, is invited to a manor in Ireland to cook for the royal banquet in an effort by a Lord to convince his grandmother not to sell their home. However, as is expected in films like this, budding romances threaten to derail the entire plan. The trailer offers a look at the chef’s invite to Ireland — it comes the day before the family of royals wants her to cook for them for a week after reading about her — as well as her seeing her suite once there. “I am always up for a new adventure,” Cat says. And adventures she will have!

Earlier this year, the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show" was renewed for a third season, with most of its ensemble cast members set to return. The show features Jennifer Aniston as news anchor Alex Levy and Reese Witherspoon as field reporter Bradley Jackson. It follows Alex struggling to keep her job when a rivalry begins to brew between her and Jackson; an impulsive decision-maker who is quickly rising to the top. The series is an unapologetic, outspoken drama that showcases the ruthless world of morning news through the lens of the people that work there. The series has often gone through last-minute rewrites to incorporate major, ongoing real-life events, including the #MeToo movement and the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Monday morning, Apple TV Plus unveiled a full second season trailer for “The Morning Show,” the series that launched the streamer on Nov. 1, 2019. The 10-episode Season 2 of the morning news drama — starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and run by executive producer Kerry Ehrin — will premiere on Sept. 17, with new episodes rolling out each week.
Production on “The Morning Show’s” second season was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, and the show, which had received a two-season order before Apple’s streaming service launched, resumed filming in October of last year. The Season 1 finale aired on Dec. 20, 2019.
When we last saw Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon), they were having a mad-as-hell “Network” moment on live television after Alex had reckoned with her complicity in ignoring the sexual misconduct perpetrated by her former co-anchor, Mitch (Steve Carell), who’d been protected (and abetted) for years by the head of the Uba network,...

Apple TV+ shared a new trailer for the upcoming second season of “The Morning Show” on Monday, and the stakes are higher than ever.
“You’re just so caught up in ruling over your rotten little fiefdom. The rest of the world, they’ve moved to the cloud, and it is gorgeous up there,” Billy Crudup’s character proclaims, somewhat melodramatically, to Uba network executives in the trailer. “This is a battle for the soul of the universe!”
Clearly, Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley’s (Reese Witherspoon) decision to expose the network’s culture of misogyny and abuse on air is going over about as well as one might have hoped.
Season 2 of “The Morning Show” is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, Sept. 17, with new episodes rolling out weekly through Nov. 19.
In addition to Crudup, Aniston and Witherspoon, returning cast members include Steve Carell, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell,...

Producers of Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show" have filed a $44 million lawsuit against the show's insurance company for refusing to pay for coverage of losses due to the second season's Covid-related production delays, according to documents filed in California federal court on Friday.
"The Morning Show" executive producer Michael Ellenberg filed the lawsuit against the Apple drama's insurance company, Chubb National Insurance, on behalf of his banner Media Res, the production company behind the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon-led series.
The "Morning Show" production company said it had secured $125 million in cast coverage from Chubb, plus more for imminent peril to their shooting location. The company said Chubb is now refusing to pay the coverage it owes the production company -- which, according to the lawsuit, is $44 million -- over the production delays it faced in Season 2 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
