Tom Boykin(II)
- Sound Department
- Composer
- Producer
Born on an Air Force base in Germany. He lived in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, and Clovis, New Mexico, as well as
Tucson, Arizona, and Lebanon, Oregon as a child.
He graduated with a B.S. from Oregon State University (Music Technology).
In college, he worked as a studio manager, ranch hand, DJ, veterinary hospital assistant, and small engine mechanic. During his time working in the campus recording studio a student film was brought in that needed music and sound editing help. The director of that film (Kyle D. Cowgill) would become Tom's best friend and also set his career path.
Tom skipped the graduation ceremony (degree in hand) and moved to Los Angeles in 2008 with his friend Kyle and wife to start a career in film sound with no industry connections and a few thousand dollars saved up. After working on reality TV shows and no-budget projects for a short time he found his calling as a re-recording mixer and dialog editor.
Outside of work Tom enjoys gold prospecting, hiking, fishing, playing guitar and drums, fixing vehicles, and home maintenance.
