In 2012, a poster with a photograph of her advertising a play of Romeo and Juliet by the Queensland Theatre Company was removed after a complaint to the Advertising Standards Board that she looked very young and labeled it "suggestive of pedophilia". Melanie thought that was hilarious because she was actually 26 at the time the photo was taken and Juliet was supposed to be 14 in the story.
