June kicks off wedding season and June Weddings on the Hallmark Channel.
Their first film, Wedding Season, was aptly named and starred Stephanie Bennett as a journalist standing up at three of her friends' weddings and Casey Deidrick as her best friend's brother and emerging photographer.
During Wedding Season, Trish (Bennett) was assigned to write a feature article about an inside look into her friends getting married. When things went wrong, Ryan (Deidrick) ran interference and taught her about romance.
While Wedding Season was a traditional romcom, it also focused on Trish's personal journey and how she perceived relationships and her relationships with her friends.
Stephanie Bennett played Trish perfectly as a woman cynical about love but wanted to write about relationships and weddings. She learned much from watching her friends plan their weddings and interacting with Ryan.
Michelle: Why do they think you could write well about weddings? You are allergic to the subject.

Stephanie Bennett and Casey Deidrick star in this cute Hallmark original about a journalist standing up at three of her best friends’ weddings. She pairs up with her best friend’s brother when she can't get a date. There is an instant connection.
We chatted with Stephanie about the scoop on the movie, working with Casey, and the chaos of wedding planning. Check out the interview below.
Hi Stephanie. So, Wedding Season was such a fun movie. What attracted you to the film and the character of Trish?
I love the many different storylines and the idea of three weddings. I felt like I related to Trish. She’s got this dry sense of humor, which I also have. She’s very driven in her career, which I like.

The Criterion Channel’s February Lineup Includes Melvin Van Peebles, Douglas Sirk, Laura Dern & More
Another month, another Criterion Channel lineup. In accordance with Black History Month their selections are especially refreshing: seven by Melvin Van Peebles, five from Kevin Jerome Everson, and Criterion editions of The Harder They Come and The Learning Tree.
Regarding individual features I’m quite happy to see Abderrahmane Sissako’s fantastic Bamako, last year’s big Sundance winner (and Kosovo’s Oscar entry) Hive, and the remarkably beautiful Portuguese feature The Metamorphosis of Birds. Add a three-film Laura Dern collection (including the recently canonized Smooth Talk) and Pasolini’s rarely shown documentary Love Meetings to make this a fine smorgasboard.

Most first failures stop careers in their tracks, and many early successes lead to nothing for lack of financing. But there are success stories of another kind we rarely hear about. Journeys through back alleys and down long treacherous roads that lead to a sustainable career.
I am a producer specializing in micro-budget production. I first met writer-director Henry Barrial in 2000 when I was an executive at Next Wave Films. We were giving finishing funds to exceptional low-budget features, which included Chris Nolan’s “Following.” We invested in Henry’s feature film debut, “Some Body,” a $3,000 drama shot on Canon Xl-1’s with a two-man crew and no script. When it was accepted into Dramatic Competition at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, we repped its sale to Lot 47 Films, which ultimately released it theatrically in over 15 cities. The first trailer has been released for a new post-apocalyptic action film called Scorched Earth. The story is set in a future where the world has been destroyed by an environmental collapse. The film stars Gina Carano as a bounty hunter who is on a mission to take down a ruthless outlaw.
This looks like a made for TV movie that you would find on the SyFy Channel. There's a market for those kinds of films, but I don't think it looks that good. Maybe it will interest some of you, though. Here's the synopsis:
The planet has suffered an environmental collapse; the air became dangerous to breathe, the water became toxic, and billions of people died. Generations later, mankind has finally re-established a rudimentary society, in an attempt to pick up the pieces that continue to blister in the sun. Attica Gage (Gina Carano) is a bounty hunter with...

"What makes you so different than the bounties you drag in here?" An official trailer has debuted online for a post-apocalyptic sci-fi action movie titled Scorched Earth, from actor-turned-director Peter Howitt. Set in a future where Earth has been ravaged (scorched?) and destroyed, the story follows a bounty hunter, played by Gina Carano, who gets into some major trouble when she tries to bring down a ruthless outlaw. This seems like such an odd, unoriginal mashup of bounty hunters, post-apocalyptic tropes, and maybe a bit of sci-fi, but not really. The full cast includes John Hannah, Stephanie Bennett, Alisha Newton, Ryan Robbins, Nathan Mitchell, and Patrick Gilmore. I hate to be so blunt, but this looks like a really terrible made-for-tv SyFy film. I'm really not that interested in seeing this, but check it out below anyway. How did a low budget horror movie about a diminutive Irish monster spawn five sequels, a new reboot, and the career of Jennifer Aniston? EW tracks the deranged history of the Leprechaun franchise.
British actor Warwick Davis says he has “specific” fans—well-wishers who want to discuss just one of the several fantasy franchises in which he has appeared. “People talk about Star Wars, people talk about Harry Potter,” he explains, “and people talk about Leprechaun.”

WWE Studios has released a promo image of the evil leprechaun creature from their upcoming film Leprechaun: Origins. I guess even leprechauns need an origin story. The studio revealed the image at Comic-Con this week, and it doesn't look like any kind of leprechaun I've ever seen before. Personally, I think it looks kind of ridiculous.
The story centers on "two young couples who while backpacking through Ireland, discover a town’s chilling secret inside an old cabin at the edge of the woods." Of course the monstrous-looking leprechaun is going to put them through hell.
The movie was directed by Zach Lipovsky, and it stars Dylan Postl, who is also known as WWE wrestler “Hornswoggle.” Brendan Fletcher, Teach Grant, Andrew Dunbar, Stephanie Bennett, and Melissa Roxburgh also star.
The movie will be released on VOD and Digital HD platforms on August 26th, and Blu-ray and DVD on September 30th.

During the Sdcc we had a chance to get the skinny on WWE's Leprechaun: Origins, starring WWE Supertstar Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl. Read on for the scoop from Dylan and director Zach Lipovsky.
"For me the biggest and coolest challenge was that Leprechauns aren't something that people are generally frightened by," Lipovsky (pictured) tells us of the character and his idea for how the film should play out.
"We asked ourselves, can we do something that would be legitimately scary for people, and if so, what would that look like? Anything was on the table so that was really fun. It was fun to come on to the project and make it something that honors the mythology and is iconic and be totally fresh with our approach. We looked into making the origin story of a creature that maybe thousands of years ago the Celtics met in a cave or something that was really scary.

One is small, swift, and sinister, and the other is towering, menacing, and brutal. You wouldn’t want to run into either one. Horror movie antagonists Leprechaun and Jacob Goodnight may use different malicious methods, but both are deadly denizens of upcoming films from WWE Studios and Lionsgate. An Sdcc panel and an autograph session featuring Leprechaun: Origins and See No Evil 2 have been announced, and the panel will include an unveiling of the new looks of Leprechaun and Jacob Goodnight.
On Thursday, July 24th an autograph signing of a convention exclusive two-sided poster by Jen and Sylvia Soska, Glenn “Kane” Jacobs, Danielle Harris, and Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl will take place at Lionsgate’s booth #4045 from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. WWE Studios has released the first trailer for their horror movie Leprechaun: Origins, which is a reboot of the original cult franchise. I've enjoyed the Leprechaun films that have been made over the years because of how absurd they were. I was especially entertained by the cheesy humor. The reboot seems to have ditched the humor aspect of the franchise and the filmmakers seem to be going for more scares this time around. As much as I enjoy horror films, this doesn't look that good to me.

This is a statement that probably sounds like utter lunacy to some, but I’ve been dying to see the first trailer for Leprechaun: Origins ever since the project was originally announced. Why would one be so excited about WWE’s attempt to bring glory and honor to one of horror’s more, um, interesting villains? Simple – Leprechaun is a classic horror film as long as we ignore the slew of absolutely atrocious sequels, as Warwick Davis turned a creature wearing a green tuxedo into something scary, hilarious, and undeniably entertaining. The Leprechaun holds a special place in my gold-encrusted heart, so I’ve been dying to see how Dylan Postl (WWE’s Hornswoggle) would embody the cunning killer – but unfortunately this first trailer doesn’t offer much in the evil leprechaun department.

It's time to do a little jig and celebrate the fact that the first official teaser one-sheet for Zach Lipovsky's 'Leprechaun: Origins' has been uncovered. Whether of not the franchise needs rebooting is a question that seems to have been answered positively by Lionsgate along with WWE Studios whom have teamed up to bring us this new look version which is said to be 'darker and a more traditional horror.' Warwick Davis ('Life's Too Short'), whom was fitted out in the fetching green attire for 6 of the previous installments, has been looked over this time around in favour of WWE's own Hornswoggle Dylan Postl. Brendan Fletcher, Teach Grant, Andrew Dunbar, Stephanie Bennett, Bruce Blain and Adam Boys also star. Check out the new poster below....

The first official poster from the WWE's Leprechaun: Origins, starring WWE Supertstar Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl as the ever-so-evil title character, has arrived and it's gold-hording good! Check it out!
Leprechaun: Origins also stars Stephanie Bennett, Teach Grant (The Tall Man, Devour, Repeaters, “Cult”), Bruce Blain (“Supernatural”), Adam Boys, and Brendan Fletcher ("The Killing," Freddy vs. Jason, 13 Eerie).
The original Leprechaun, which featured comedic elements, followed an evil leprechaun searching for his pot of gold while avoiding four-leaf clovers. “The tone [of Origins] is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre; but at the same time this is really being played for scares,” said WWE president Michael Luisi in an earlier interview.
Producers are keeping details of Harris Wilkinson's script under wraps to keep the franchise's new direction a secret.
