Director Chris R. Notarile has been busy this year releasing short films outlining the origin of Freddy Krueger and how he became The Nightmare on Elm Street. He's just released his fifth installment in the series which shows the lead up to the boiler room fire we are all familiar with! The production value isn't the greatest, but I love the concept of watching the events that led to his creation! I would love to see this series redone as a television series or something! See the latest installment below, and check out their Youtube for the prior episodes!

Welcome to The Last Horror Blog, a biweekly column on all things horror. Nightmare on Elm Street fan film delves into Freddy’s past – We all know the story of Freddy Krueger after that mob of angry parents set him ablaze, but when it comes to the early – and nonsupernatural days – of the Springwood Slasher, details are bit murky. That changes now. Filmmaker Chris R. Notarile has crafted a clever short film entitled Krueger: A Walk Through Elm Street. The six-minute mini movie showcases a human Freddy eyeing the children of Springwood in a very uncomfortable way. The dialogue is a bit rough in spots, but this is a cool little treat for Freddy fanatics. Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision will introduce us to The Boy – Elijah Wood has...

Our old pal Freddy Krueger has now appeared in a total of nine different films, and though we pretty much know the entire story of his life, death and fiery resurrection, there is one story that remains largely untold; the story of Freddy's life as the 'Springwood Slasher,' before he was targeted and burned alive by vengeful parents in A Nightmare on Elm Street.
True, Freddy's origins were delved into throughout the original franchise, and even in the premiere episode of Freddy's Nightmares as well as the 2010 remake, but the full story of Fred's days as the so-called Springwood Slasher has never been told - and if you're asking me, such a story would make for the perfect way to once again attempt to reboot the franchise, and bring something fresh and new to the table.

Filmmaker Chris R. Notarile wanted to do a fan film series based on the adventures of Freddy Krueger before the parents of Springwood torched him. And he's got the perfect actor to play the role.
Roberto Lombardi takes a back seat only to Robert Englund himself when it comes to playing Freddy. Vera VanGuard and Jacob Flowers co-star.
This is the third installment of Krueger: A Walk Through Elm Street, which are all written and directed by Notarile and star Lombardi as the legendary killer in the days when he terrorized children during their waking hours. And in this newest entry, Freddy gets an early meeting with one of his most famous targets.
The newest video is below, and we've included the two earlier entries as well. For more info visit the official Krueger: A Walk Through Elm Street Facebook page.

There’s a general misconception among casual horror fans that any flick produced by a fellow fan, or amateur, isn’t worth the time it takes to type in w-w-w-.-y-o-u-t-u-b-e-.-c-o-m.
Bona fide horror hounds have been tuned in to these inspired projects for years, understanding and respecting the effort devoted to a genuine passion piece. The detractors tend (this isn’t a rule carved in stone, mind you) to be the guys and gals who catch a macabre flick once every week or so, wiling to confess their affinity for the genre, but perhaps not devoted enough to qualify as a certified freak for terror, who haven’t taken the time to study these ambitious pictures.
The truth is, anyone who can openly acknowledge their love for horror can potentially find some brilliant fan productions, regardless of how dedicated one may or may not be. Sometimes fans just...

Almost every great director had a low budget start. When comparing Quentin Tarantino’s first feature film, Reservoir Dogs to Chris Notarile’s second major project, Stand Off, there is no denying a few similarities—and Notarile shows plenty of potential as an indie producer/director. He has had plenty of practice with his short genre films on his website, Blinky Productions, and in his foray into feature length movies, he is keeping the movies he likes to make simple.

Director Chris R. Notarile is probably best known in geekdom for his short films featuring comic book characters.
In 2006, he wrote and directed Catwoman: The Diamond Exchange, starring Niki Rubin as the feline felon; Joker, starring Bryan Bockbrader and with Deanna Miller as accomplice Harley Quinn; and I'm Power Girl Dammit!!! with Tawnya Manion as the title character, Guile Branco as Bizarro (an opposite version of Superman) and Sarah Durning as Oracle (a later identity of Batgirl).
Last year he returned to the superhero genre with a new short called Elektra (The Hand & The Devil) with Kim Santiago as Elektra and Adam Shorsten as Daredevil.
Next in the pipeline for Chris is a twisted suspense thriller called Daddy's Girl. It's his second feature film following 2007's Methodic about a boy possessed by a demonic presence called The Dollman.
The filmmaker has now released a trailer, poster and synopsis for the film,...

Daddy's Girl has a sexy, but deadly look, in this second poster for the film. Director Chris R. Notarile tells me that Zoe Sloane was his third choice to play Jess (seen left). Creative differences led to two other actresses being removed from the film. Fans of independent horror can check out Zoe Sloane speaking into the camera about murder in this first trailer, for Daddy's Girl, below. The film will be available once production is complete. More details below.
The synopsis for Daddy's Girl here:
"Jessica Hailey (Zoe Sloane), by day, is your typical girl next door. At first glance, she is sweet, innocent, charming and outgoing. But the real Jessica is something much darker and sadistic.
