Ryan Oksenberg is a filmmaker from Toronto, Canada. He graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Oksenberg aims to try to find himself and understand himself through characters. These characters express themselves with a certain amount of dignity, even if they show themselves in a ridiculous light. The pursuit leaves him depressed some days, mad on others, sometimes happy, occasionally insane, but it's always with a driving purpose - to get something true on film.
"Foibles" is his feature debut. Short films of his premiered in competition at Fantasia, BIFAN and Austin Film Festival. In 2019, he won the $50K StudioFest prize for his short, "Together," now on ALTER (470K+ views). His 2020 short, "New Not Normal," won "Best Midnight Short" at Nightmares Film Festival. "Cease To Exist," a his thesis documentary, explores Charles Manson's musical aspirations in connection to the Helter Skelter murders. Ryan uploaded the doc to YouTube as early as 2007, where it reached 1M views.
