The showrunner-producer pair chatted to Deadline in advance of the latest data dump, which saw their fourth Netflix UK Coben adaptation top the charts with more than 100 million views in the first half of this year. Set in post-war Britain, the U.K.-Australian co-production follows a group of Brits as they leave behind their dreary lives to seek adventure down under. (In Australia “Pom” is a nickname for British people).

Keegan stars as nurse Kate Thorne in the show, which was created by “Fool Me Once” screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst.

Next up for the Coben book-to-screen treatment in the UK is Missing You. Published in 2014, it’s the story of police detective Kat Donovan, whose life – in true Harlan Coben tradition – is turned upside down when her missing fiancé Josh (it was Jeff in the book) suddenly reappears on a dating site. Expect secrets, intrigue and grisly deaths to play out against a backdrop of expansive Carrera marble kitchen islands, Heals sofas, and £80k Range Rovers.

No cast has yet been announced for Missing You, but filming starts in spring 2024 so we can expect to hear who’ll be in it soon.

Exclusive: Netflix has greenlit another two adaptations of Harlan Coben novels after Fool Me Once became a global hit for the streaming service, Deadline can reveal.

Netflix will bring Missing You and Run Away to the screen as limited series over the coming years, with the former going into production in spring 2024.

Quay Street Productions, the ITV Studios-backed production outfit founded by Nicola Shindler, will produce both adaptations after overseeing Fool Me Once. Coben will serve as executive producer through his company Final Twist Productions.

Victoria Asare-Archer, who wrote two episodes of Coben’s Stay Close for Netflix in 2021, will write Missing You. Fool Me Once writer Danny Brocklehurst will pen Run Away.

The dramas will be the ninth and tenth Coben adaptations produced under Netflix’s fruitful partnership with the author, who has sold more than 80M books worldwide.

Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once has rocketed to the top of the UK streaming charts, unseating Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon on its way up.

The most-watched episode was sitting pretty with more than 6M viewers on the seven-day chart and the first three each topped the 5M mark, according to Barb data supplied by overnights.tv.

Dropping on New Year’s Day, Quay Street Productions’ Fool Me Once is the latest in a long line of Coben’s Netflix shows via his multi-year deal. It stars the likes of Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar and Richard Armitage, following a woman trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband.

Coben’s previous shows such as Safe and Stay Close have performed well for the streamer, handing the limelight to actors who have traditionally worked for British broadcasters such as Coronation Street and Our Girl star Keegan.

Author Harlan Coben exploded onto the literary scene in 1995 with "Deal Breaker," the first book in the long-running Myron Bolitar novel series. Myron Bolitar was a former basketball player and current sports agent who became embroiled in a string of sports-related murder investigations. There are 16 Myron Bolitar books and three in the YA Micket Bolitar spin-off series. Coben has also authored 19 standalone thrillers, and it's entirely likely you idly picked up one of his books at the airport. His most recent novel was the 2023 thriller "I Will Find You."

Coben is also notable for being the source of multiple new Netflix TV shows. Happy New Year from us all here at What’s on Netflix, and as always, the first of the month brings lots of new titles. Below, we’ll take you through all the 59 new movies that dropped today and nine series.

Over the past few days, Netflix has added some truly classic movies from the 1970s – we’ll have more on those in a separate article, but we’ll list the titles below.

It’s here, the newest Netflix thriller adapted from one of Harlan Coben’s ludicrously twist-packed, secret-filled crime mystery novels. This one comes adapted by Danny Brocklehurst with the same UK team that made The Five, Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close, and once again stars Richard Armitage in a central role.

Fool Me Once is the story of military helicopter pilot Maya Stern, a captain who loses her career in a scandal and suffers two bereavements in short succession. It’s fast-paced, kind of ridiculous viewing that takes you down an extremely twisty path before tying everything up in a big not-exactly-watertight-but-it’ll-do-fine knot – which makes it pretty perfect viewing for a brain-fogged New Year’s Day after all of December’s indulgences.

Based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name and produced by Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions, the eight-part series stars Keegan (pictured above on set) as Maya Stern, a woman who is struggling to resume her life after her husband Joe (Armitage) is brutally murdered. But things take a turn after Maya spots someone on the nanny cam she has installed throughout her home to keep an eye on her young daughter…someone who is supposed to be dead. Meanwhile Maya’s niece and nephew are also reeling from the murder of their mother several months earlier and set out to find out the truth. Could the two tragedies be related?

Michelle Keegan has announced that she will be starring in the Netflix book adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once.

The actor shared the news on Monday night (20 February), admitting that she was relieved to have revealed the “secret”.

“Finally the secret’s out!” the former Coronation Street actor wrote on an Instagram caption of herself by a pool reading the book.

“I’m over the moon to be joining the cast of Fool Me Once, a @netflixuk thriller based on the book by the extremely talented @harlancoben.”

“Here we go,”Keegan added.

Author Harlan Coben is back at Netflix with his fifth novel adaptation, as the streamer takes on “Fool Me Once” with a limited thriller series starring Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage and Joanna Lumley.

The New York Times bestselling writer re-upped his deal with Netflix in October, with the multimillion dollar pact giving the streamer access to his more than two dozen titles. Longtime collaborators Danny Brocklehurst, Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee will executive produce along with Coben.

ITV has welcomed a new crop of 13 incognito celebrities to compete in the UK version of The Masked Singer.

On Sunday 1 January, the top-secret singing series, which sees a number of celebrities dressed in head-to-toe costumes to conceal their identity while they compete, began its fourth season.

During the first episode, Jellyfish was among the first batch of competitors to perform for this year’s judges panel, which consists of singer Rita Ora, comedian Mo Gilligan, former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall and BBC host Jonathan Ross.

Saving herself from elimination, Jellyfish wowed the judges and audience with her debut performance of Guns N’ Roses’s “Sweet Child o’ Mine”.

Also competing in the first round were Phoenix, Knitting and Jacket Potato.

This season’s first elimination was Ghost, who was unveiled as former football star Chris Kamara.
