Jochem de Vries is an Amsterdam based film writer, director. During his study at the Utrecht School of the Arts he made the short films "Gesloten" (aka "Locked") and 'Villa de Ves" which were selected at several international film festivals.
After the Utrecht School of the Arts he followed a script writing workshop at the Scriptschool in Amsterdam and studied in Poland at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing for a year to develop his first feature screenplay titled "Cornea".
He made more shorts films as director, producer and documentaries like "Trans Siberian Voices" (selected at Critiques Week @ Cannes Film festival) and "Missen" (aka Missing) nominated for a Palm d'Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2009. In 2014 the feature film "Cornea" was premiered in the Netherlands, starring Rifka Lodeizen and Juda Goslinga. "Cornea" won several awards; f.e: at the Fiorentino International Independent Film Festival "Best Film" and "Best Director" at the Nordic International Film Festival in New York. The new short film "Bus from Adana" produced in Istanbul will be released in 2023.
