Ivo Tonchev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in the family of Gena and Velko Tonchevs. While still in school, he was chosen to sing in the "Gusla" child chorus, and that's where he found his love to music and singing. His first theatrical performance was at the age of 10 in the musical "Oliver Twist".. Afterward, he continued his education in the first theatrical class in middle school for the 4xS Theater, which was very popular among the youth at that time.
He acted in his first movie, Diary of a Madman, at the age of 15 after being accidentally liked on the street by the famous actor and director Marius Kurkinsky. He was accepted in Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, where he studied for four years. Just after his graduation, he performed in the musical play "Rhythm", produced and created by actor and director Andrey Batashov, which received a great response by the press and media and has been played more than 400 times. His international performances in background roles started when Millennium Films, an American movie studio, established itself in Nu Boyana Film Studios in Bulgaria, the biggest movie studio in Southeastern Europe.
