The second half of the seventh season of Outlander is off and running, and surprises abound. While Jamie and Claire Fraser (Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe) return to Jamie's native Scotland, their son-in-law Roger (Richard Rankin) has a time-traveling kidnapping to solve: his son Jemmy (Blake Johnston-Miller) has been taken into the past, so Roger and ancestor Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) use the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun to travel back in time in pursuit...but they somehow overshoot their mark, ending up about 20 years earlier than they planned. Jamie's father Brian Fraser (Andrew Whipp) is still running Lallybroch, with a younger version of Jamie's sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton) helping keep the household.
“I think it’s just shock after shock after shock, and I think all of these things helped to develop a very sort of interesting and refreshing plot line for Buck and Roger,” Rankin told TV Insider.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7, Episode 9, “Unfinished Business.”] Outlander‘s return has brought with it plenty of exciting time-traveling twists as Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) found themselves displaced in time to a period at Lallybroch where Brian Fraser (Andrew Whipp) is still Laird, overseeing his family, including a younger Jenny (Kristin Atherton). As viewers will recall, they traveled through the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun to find Roger’s son Jemmy (Blake Johnston-Miller), who was kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton). Only, their efforts landed them further back in time than Roger believed possible. “I think it’s just shock after shock after shock, and I think all of these things helped to develop a very sort of interesting and refreshing plot line for Buck and Roger,” Rankin tells TV Insider. Megan Fox and Robert Pattinson have had similar trajectories in their early career as they became household names by starring in big franchises. Fox’s breakout role was as Mikaela Banes in 2007’s Transformers and its sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. 2009’s Jennifer’s Body would become her most celebrated film in which she played the lead.

Similarly, Pattinson starred in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and broke out as Edward Cullen in the Twilight films. As contemporaries in the industry, people like to talk about them and compare their works. “Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

Brace yourselves, "Outlander" fans: the long-running Starz historical drama is approaching its final chapters. The network shared a press release today announcing that the eighth season of the sexy, soapy hit series will be its last, but as is often the case these days, that doesn't exactly mean the story is over. The series based on Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novels may be coming to a close, but a prequel series is on the horizon after receiving an official pickup from Starz.
The angstily-named "Outlander: Blood of My Blood" is another love story, but this one is set before the era of Highlander Jamie (Sam Heughan) and time-traveller Claire (Caitroina Balfe). Instead, the series will follow Jamie's parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. Though casting for the new series hasn't been revealed, it's worth noting that Andrew Whipp played the character of Brian for 14 episodes of "Outlander."

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

Shetland’s Series 7 return is a bittersweet one for fans of the Scottish BBC crime drama. The six-episode run will be actor Douglas Henshall’s last in the lead role of Di Jimmy Perez. Henshall’s departure though, doesn’t mean the end for Shetland, which has been renewed for an eighth series due to arrive in 2023. A new, as-yet-unannounced, lead actor will be joining the returning cast for that run.
Series 7, which starts on BBC One on Wednesday the 10th of August at 9pm, promises to tie up Perez’s loose ends and follow up on last series’ will-they-won’t-they frisson with Irish carer Meg. Before Perez says his final goodbye to the evidence board though, there’s a missing person case to solve, and a host of new characters to interrogate. Here’s who he’ll be meeting…

The kingdom in this poorly acted Viking fantasy is populated by peacenik vegans, a warrior princess and … Terence Stamp
This fantastically wooden and dodgily acted British Viking fantasy appears to be the result of its creators binge-watching Games of Thrones, although the battle scenes here are about as thunderous as a sparrow’s fart. Anna Demetriou is Princess Helle, daughter of the king (Andrew Whipp) and rightful heir to Volsung, a kingdom of blokes with beards vaguely recognisable from the telly. But when Helle was born, the king’s scheming brother Prince Bard (Timo Nieminen) cajoled him into trading babies on the pretence of protecting the kingdom: I’ll swap you your second fiddle princess for my son. Trouble is, 20 years later, the prince is a royal wuss, while Helle is a bit handy with a sword.
When the king is murdered, Bard frames Helle, who escapes to the woods...
