The Daytime Emmys revived the category of Best Guest Performer in 2015 almost 30 years after it had last been handed out in 1987, but a new rule instituted this year could be highly consequential. In the last four years this award was restricted to actors playing newly created roles, but this year the academy opened it up to established characters as well. This year there are two returning roles in the running: Kate Mansi as Abigail Deveraux and Thaao Penghlis as Andre Dimera, both from “Days of Our Lives.” Both have been Emmy contenders before for these roles (and Mansi was a winner), so does that give them an advantage?
That depends on their Emmy reels. These awards are unique in that both the nominees and the winners were determined by blue ribbon panels viewing sample performance reels from the actors up for consideration. Those submissions tend to level the playing field,...

Justice League vs. The Fatal Five is a reunion of talent and style that bridges the old and the new.
Nearly 27 years after the Bruce Timm-developed DC Animated Universe began in 1992 with Batman: The Animated Series, and 13 after it ended in 2006 with Justice League Unlimited, the so-called Timm-verse is … well, not quite back. Yet the new animated film Justice League vs. The Fatal Five is a reunion of talent, and style, but with a new class of heroes joining the iconic characters (and the actors who voiced them) for a largely satisfying adventure.
Executive produced by Timm, the film reunites Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg, and George Newbern to voice, respectively, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman – roles for which their performances are definitive. Visually the movie also looks like the Justice League Unlimited animation style, complete with character Easter eggs that call back to heroes (and a couple Arkham...

The awards for dramatic acting are unique as they undergo an extra pre-nominations phase of voting. TV academy members watched short sample clips of all entrants for lead and supporting awards.

As most of you already know, a lot of the designs for Star Wars Rebels came from a lot of unused concept art from the original trilogy created by Ralph McQuarrie. The talent behind the animated series is also looking at new unused concept art that was done for Star Wars: The Force Awakens for inspiration on developing certain characters for Rebels.
A recent episode of Star Wars Rebels featured a character that was actually based on a character that originally designed for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming movie. Today we have a piece of concept art of that character that was created by Industrial Light & Magic senior art director Christian Alzmann, who also helped design Bb-8.
The character goes by the name of the Fifth Brother, who was one of the Inquisitors sent out by the Emperor and Darth Vader to help stop the rebellion against the Empire before the events of A New Hope.

Grimm is going to be getting a visit from a very good-looking man, but I can’t say with any certainty that his arrival is going to spell anything good for anyone. This new character, who will be around for a few episodes, has been sent on an assignment, one that we don’t know much about ahead of time. This could easily work against Nick and the other good guys of Grimm.
According to TVLine, Philip Anthony Rodriguez (Secret life of the American Teenager) will be playing Marcus Ruspoli. He’ll be every bit as attractive as Anthony-Rodriguez is in real life, but he’s also a member of Verrat, the organization serving the royal families...

Stella Maeve has been cast in a recurring role on NBC’s midseason drama Chicago Pd, a spinoff from the network’s Chicago Fire. On the cop drama, from Wolf Films and Universal TV, Maeve will play Nadia, a pretty 18-year-old escort who is addicted to heroin and goes through a very difficult withdrawal. Maeve, repped by Principato-Young and Abrams Artists, recently co-starred in CBS series Golden Boy, CW pilot Norfolk and indie Dark Summer. Spartacus and Crash alum Nick Tarabay has booked a recurring role on the new NBC Alfonso Cuaron drama Believe, about Bo (Johnny Sequoyah), a girl with special powers. Tarabay, repped by Domain and manager Brian Medavoy, will play Niko Zepeda, a dangerous, intimidating CIA Black Ops who is a constant looming threat as he hunts Bo and her protector Tate (Jake McLaughlin). Philip Anthony-Rodriguez (Secret Life Of The American Teenager) has landed a recurring role on another midseason series,...

Cyber ninjas! Cyber samurai! Octo-ladies! Konami passed along a heaping helping of character and casting information for February's "Metal Gear Rising Revengeance" while somehow finding a way to obscure much of the plot for the game. But, like any post-"Solid" title in the "Metal Gear" franchise, it'll come down to one lone soldier against a bunch of augmented super killers.

A cyborg who wields a “high-frequency blade” capable of cutting down even the largest unmanned weapons.
