Peacock’s Bel-Air is doing “The Carlton” again after renewing the fan-favorite drama for a fourth and final season. Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring a young Will Smith as a Philadelphia import learning to navigate the lap of luxury in Los Angeles, California. According to sources, Bel-Air Season 4 has eight episodes to end the series.
The evolution of Bel-Air is remarkable. The series comes from Morgan Cooper’s four-minute viral short, which presents a more grounded and grittier take on the characters and premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Bel-Air helped put Peacock’s name in the spotlight as one of the streamer’s most successful original series.

Peacock will return to Bel-Air for one last time.
The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has renewed Bel-Air — a dramatic take on Will Smith’s 1990s NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — for a fourth and final season. The renewal comes about three months after season three concluded.
The series, which counts Smith among its executive producers, grew out of a YouTube video by Morgan Cooper that reimagined the sitcom as a gritty drama. Peacock ran with the idea and gave the project a two-season order in September 2020; Bel-Air premiered in February 2022.
Season three followed Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) becoming closer as Carlton looked to put his life of addiction behind him and rebuild his reputation — but the newfound partnership also revealed fundamental differences in their experiences and worldviews.
“I think the most rewarding thing has been watching people be on the journey with us and start...

Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.
The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.
Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

Like Will Smith, who started his career as an emcee before transitioning into a leading man onscreen in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, music was a first love for Coco Jones before she became a Disney child star and landed the role of Hilary Banks on the Peacock reimagining of the ‘90s sitcom, Bel-Air.
The duo shared the stage at an Aug. 1 barbecue at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles ahead of the drama’s season three premiere on Aug. 15. Smith rapped the lyrics to his Grammy Award-winning hit “Summertime,” while Jones sang the chorus.
“Will and I are similar in the regard of being actors and balancing our music careers with our TV shows, so I really respect him,” Jones tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding of the performance, “it was a fun opportunity to promote a great show and great art.”

Anticipation was high for “Bel-Air” two years ago, the dramatic flip of the beloved classic comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Kansas City native Morgan Cooper’s re-imagining of the pop culture fixture started as a fan film he uploaded to YouTube in 2019 that generated so much buzz that Will Smith himself jumped aboard as an executive producer. And the success of the first season, not to mention glowing reviews of the show’s depiction of class tensions — and changes like fresh takes on Hillary as a culinary influencer and Carlton as a struggling, undercover addict — beget a second season and now a third.
But the latest installment takes a somewhat greater departure from the first two seasons. Instead of taking place during the school year, Season 3 takes over the summer, placing Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) in a country club setting that television has typically reserved for young white kids.

At the event held at the Universal Studios Backlot in Los Angeles on Thursday, Bel-Air star Coco Jones took the stage, performing her new song, “Here We Go.” She then invited Smith, who serves as an executive producer on the drama reimagining of his hit ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, onstage for a duet of his 1991 hit, “Summertime.”
“Come on, come on, sing!,” exclaimed Smith on the mic during Jones’ vocals, with fans gleefully complying and taking out their phones to record the special moment. Following the performance, the cast took the stage to preview season 3 and share some of their memories from bonding on set.

Worlds might collide in London this Saturday, should the Boss meet the Bear.
As Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White warmed his voice and practiced his guitar to prepare for the Bruce Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” he initially kept a distance from his storied subject to better ease into the role.
“I’m trying to have a bit of my own process,” he told Variety in June. “I wanna try to have an understanding, so when I meet him, I’ll have a bit of confidence somewhere in me to stand there.”
That day may soon be near. Speaking from the red carpet at a glitzy, pre-Olympics bash held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, White revealed that he and Springsteen have now “texted and emailed” and might finally meet in person after Springsteen’s show at London’s Wembley Stadium this Saturday.

Peacock’s Bel-Air has set Thursday, August 15 as the show’s premiere of its third season. The premiere will feature three new episodes and Deadline has first-look photos of the season to view below.
In Season 3, school’s out for the summer, and Will (Jabari Banks) is doing Bel-Air his way. Being a part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective – it isn’t just about wealth, it means that Will now has options to lean into other things that excite him and has the privilege to dream bigger. As Will makes an exciting pivot, he finds a partner in Carlton (Olly Sholotan), who desperately wants to leave his life of addiction behind and rebuild his damaged reputation. And while the dynamic duo has a lot of exciting wins, working together also reveals fundamental differences in their backgrounds and worldviews. Can a partnership of such extremes work?...

Exclusive: ITV panel show Sorry, I Didn’t Know has sealed itself in the record books by becoming the network’s longest-running show from a production company led by Black creatives.
Hosted by Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola and shot in front of a live audience in London, the series, which launched just after the Black Lives Matter protests, sees team captains Chizzy Akudolu and Eddie Kadi plus guests take each other on in several quiz rounds mainly centered on Black history.

Note: The following includes spoilers from the “Bel-Air” Season 2 finale.
“I’m a drug addict. A really f—g good one, too. I’m high on coke most days. In fact, I’m high right now.”

It’s a demon Carlton has been dealing with since Season 1, as he battles with his anxiety. No one knew about his drug problem but Will who vowed to stay quiet and in return asked his cousin to stop and lean on him instead. Amidst the drama of Peacock’s reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, there’s one thing everyone can agree on: The fashion is on point. In fact, when TV Insider asked the Bel-Air cast to name the best-dressed character on the show, while one name did keep coming up, more than one person acknowledged it was a tough question. “Queensylvia [Akuchie] is the most amazing costume designer,” Cassandra Freeman (who plays Vivian Banks) raved. “I think some of my costumes are incredible, but then I watch the show … it’s a tie for me.” Adrian Holmes (who plays Philip Banks) echoed her praise for their designer. “Everybody’s really fitted, especially this season. We’ve elevated the wardrobe,” he said. Jimmy Akingbola had no issues answering the question, naming his own character, Geoffrey. “Honestly, I’m in tears of joy every time I walk into the costume room,” he shared.

Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola’s heartwrenching Handle with Care doc has been picked up by Peacock in the U.S.
Handle with Care, which debuted on ITV in the UK and is produced by TriForce Productions, sees Akingbola tell the story of his upbringing after he was adopted by parents of a different ethnicity to his own. He also meets others who have experienced the British care system, including the likes of Save Me star Lennie James and athlete Kriss Akabusi, in order to build up a picture.
The doc tells a “positive story” of growing up in care, Akingbola recently told Deadline.
He will be familiar to Peacock subscribers, having played Geoffrey the butler in the first two seasons of the NBCUniversal streamer’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot, which was recently renewed for a third series.

Also, it’s all the more reason you might need other recommendations to get your Who’s the Boss? fix while you wait for your DVD of the complete first season to arrive.

“Bel-Air” has been renewed for a third season at Peacock, the streamer announced on Friday.
The series launched in February 2022 as the streamer’s most-watched original premiere, and remains Peacock’s most-watched original series to date.
The dramatic reimagining of the ‘90s Will Smith sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was inspired by Morgan Cooper’s 2019 four-minute spec trailer, “Bel-Air,” which went viral on social media. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Peacock’s one-hour drama series imagines the beloved sitcom with a new perspective on Will’s journey from West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As his upbringing and his new environment collide, Will navigates the conflicts and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known, while striving for a second chance at success.
