Robert M. Malachowski Jr., ACE is an Emmy Award-winning editor and long-time, active member of the TV Academy and American Cinema Editors. A graduate from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Television/Radio with a concentration in Production and Direction, Robert has worked within the production/postproduction field for the past 35+ years.
Early in his career, Robert focused on producing and editing experimental videos, promotions, and music videos for artists such Nirvana, Beck, Rob Zombie, Gun N' Roses, and The Eagles. He transitioned into cutting network pilots, promos, film trailers, main titles, and edited pieces for such prestigious shows as The Academy Awards, The Primetime Emmy Awards, The Grammy Awards, Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and President Clinton's 50th Birthday Celebration.
For the past twenty-plus years, Robert has focused on the unscripted show genre while also having edited and produced two feature-length independent films. Robert has edited The Voice since the first episode and his past television editorial show credits include StarMaker, Comics on Delivery, Your Own Show, On the Lot, Rock Star: INXS, Rock Star: Supernova, American Fighter Pilots, Combat Missions, Survivor, and Shark Tank.
Robert has traveled internationally and consulted on post-production and editing for projects and shows in New Zealand, Korea, and China. He's been the keynote speaker at BIRTV for Avid and a panelist for the Academy of Television Art & Sciences and American Cinema Editors' Editfest. Robert has served multiple terms on the Picture Editor Peer Group at the TV Academy over the last two decades and thoroughly enjoys discussing the craft of editing across all diversified concentrations. He has also served multiple years on the Blue Ribbon Committee and Internship Committee of ACE as well as several ATAS committees. He currently is a Governor for the Picture Editor Peer Group at the TV Academy.
