Born Lyric Nolani Simmons in Atlanta, GA. Nolani has always been a creative soul. From writing songs and stories at a very young age to acting and writing poems and stories now, there was always a need to express herself. Since kindergarten she had an interest in acting and started professionally acting at the age of 19 when she found technique training at the Robert Mello Studio. It was a challenging yet exciting experience to get out of your head and get into the moment.
She grew up most of her life in a single parent household with her mother and two brothers. There was not much money to support any extra curricular activities for her and her siblings but her mother was able to purchase a point and shoot digital camera which sparked Nolani to be interested in cameras and movies. She would record, edit and even put special effects on video with her and her brothers. Her and her family were big movie buffs so she had tons of movies around the house. Her mother encouraged her interest in late 80s and early 90s movies such as Cant Buy Me Love, Back to The Future Trilogy, and Clueless. Nolani became more interested in the performances in the movies and wanted to be in them. She watched mostly thrillers, action and romance movie. She enjoyed performers like Queen Latifah, Jim Carrey, Denzel Washington, Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Fanning, and more. Due to her family financial situation, she was only able to research acting classes in Atlanta but she kept them in mind because she knew one day she would be able to attend.
At the end of high school Nolani started working with her mother as a receptionist at a furniture storage warehouse. Nolani was finally at a job where she can afford to go to acting class. She tested out a few schools before landing at the Robert Mello Studio for Meisner technique training. This opened her eyes to what acting really is and inspired her to work harder as an actress.
