Pete Wilkinson is a British record producer, manager and songwriter. He is the founder and CEO of label Melodramatic Records.
Pete was born in 1971 in Nottingham. A self taught musician he started writing songs at aged 11 on the piano.
Wilkinson's songs caught the attention of various music industry heavyweights including Rob Dickens ex Chairman of Warner Music UK. Pete secured a publishing deal in 2002 with Warner Chappell Publishing and established his own label Melodramatic Records in 2005.
He discovered, signed, produced and managed the Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald for the first 10 years of her career. Pete signed Amy to his label Melodramatic Records, which was subsequently licensed through Universal Music. He recorded Amy's debut album This is the Life and singles at his home studio in Weybridge, Surrey and Soho Studios London, the album went to number one in 6 countries and the top 5 in 14 countries, knocking Radiohead off the number 1 spot in the UK. He went on to produce Amy's second and third albums, A Curious Thing and Life in a Beautiful Light culminating in multi-million sales and no1s around Europe.
He is also known for writing and producing UK top ten hits for Kristian Leontiou - 'Story of my life' received unprecedented radio rotation being A listed on both Radio 1 and Radio 2 and was certified Gold in the UK and single 'Shining' featured in the movie 'Win a date with Tad Hamil- ton.' He also wrote 'These Streets' with Paolo Nutini for his debut album of the same title which debuted at no 3 in the UK charts and was certified 5x platinum in the UK and double platinum internationally.
Wilkinson has sold in excess of 20 million records as a producer/writer.
