Standing tall as one of the most widely recognized horror-slasher franchises, the Scream series has continued to hold its ground with several movies so far. Along with one TV show, the series is moving ahead with the development of a seventh movie but not without constant hiccups. A slew of bad news surrounding its cast, production crew, and directorial team sent shockwaves to fans, with more unexpected developments rapidly taking shape.
Screengrab of Ghostface from the Scream franchise | Paramount Pictures
Beginning in the mid-’90s, the franchise quite literally revolutionized the genre with its unique blend of horror, mystery, and satirical humor. Additionally, it has constantly maintained a steadfast climb with the regular addition of new faces alongside popular ones like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Roger L. Jackson. Meanwhile, the latest update from the sets of the upcoming movie, while in the franchise’s interest, may also possibly spell its doom.

The adventures of the Locke family and Key House are coming to a close.
Locke & Key will conclude with its upcoming third season at Netflix.
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement on Wednesday.
“As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.”
The series has been a breakout hit for Netflix, landing a third season renewal well ahead of its second season debut.

There will be much more trauma for the Locke family before this story comes to a close!
Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Locke & Key Season 2, and it teases a lot of big moments for the family.
Dodge is still well and truly a part of the story, taking over bodies and causing a lot of mayhem for everyone concerned.
But Nina Locke has primarily been in the dark about what the kids have been getting up to, and it looks like she'll be getting some answers throughout the second season.
Nina has been none the wiser about many things, but it's clear she can't shake the feeling that more than she's being led to believe is happening.
It also begs the following question:
How will she react to everything that has happened?

"The compassion of Klein's filmmaking rings true." Outsider Pictures and Strand Releasing has debuted a new trailer for We're Still Together, an indie drama from Montreal that originally debuted at festivals back in 2016. It's just now getting a direct-to-vod release in the Us after years of playing at festivals but no official release. The film is about an unlikely friendship between two lonely individuals - a manic single dad, and an overweight kid who can't get along with anyone. Starring Jesse Camacho and Joey Klein, with Brielle Robillard and Eve Harlow. This won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Film at the New Hampshire Film Festival in 2016, and a few Actra Montreal Awards for the two lead performances. This looks heartbreakingly honest and moving, a film about how we all have issues yet friendship makes up for it. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Jesse Noah Klein's We're Still Together,...

"There are way more people out there doing good." Netflix has debuted the trailer for an indie drama titled Good Sam, directed by Kate Melville. The film about a good samaritan nicknamed, of course, "Good Sam", who starts leaving bags of $100,000 on doorsteps in New York City. A TV reporter named Kate Bradley is sent to investigate the mystery, which ends up turning her whole life upside-down. This is one of those funny concepts that on paper sounds like it could be a horror, or a thriller, or a dramatic thriller, with some crazy big twists and turns. But this trailer actually makes it look like a light-hearted uplifting romance, and it seems she's going to fall in love with (or discover something else wonderful) about this "Good Sam". Tiya Sircar stars as Kate, with a full cast including Chad Connell, Marco Grazzini, Mark Camacho, Elana Dunkelman, Daniela Sandiford, Jesse Camacho,...

“Do you know the difference between looking at someone and staring at them?” Claire (Eve Harlow) asks the question rhetorically, because it’s obvious to her — and to us — that the guy who’s been gawking at her from the candy aisle of her convenience store doesn’t have the slightest clue. Chris (Jesse Camacho), it’s easy to extrapolate, is so used to being stared at that he’s likely forgotten how people prefer to be seen.
The trembling heart of Jesse Klein’s smart, sensitive and instantly engaging second feature (2010’s “Shadowboxing” was his first), Chris only wishes that he could be as invisible as he feels. Living with his mom in a dreary Montreal suburb, the unambiguously overweight twenty-something is hard not to notice but easy to ignore, and so many of his interactions turn sour that he would rather retreat into himself than try opening up.

In true 80’s nostalgia fashion, I’ve been hyped about seeing this film since I’ve seen the poster. Yes, a poster sold me on the movie – just the way I grew up watching movies in the late 80’s & 90’s. Anchor Bay just announced the release date for the 80’s slasher homage, Lost After Dark.
If you thought the 80s were dead — think again! On September 1st, Anchor Bay Entertainment goes full 80s retro with Lost After Dark, a loving but harrowing homage that takes audiences back to the decade when slashers ruled the silver screen. The exciting directing debut of writer/director Ian Kessner, Lost After Dark proudly features visceral, old-school prosthetic “kills,” and pop songs pulsing to an electronic beat. So thrown on a pair of acid wash jeans and go full-on tubular with Lost After Dark! Srp is $26.99 for the Blu-ray™ and $22.98 for the DVD, with pre-book on July 31st.

"Desperate Housewives" has been off the air for less than a year, but if you miss Eva Longoria, you'll be happy to know she's returning to television. No, not as Isabella on "Y&R" (if that was to happen, it should have happened a year ago); rather, the actress will star in a primetime animated series that she will also executive-produce.
"Mother Up!" chronicles the daily life of Rudi Wilson (Longoria), a former music industry exec-turned-suburban mom. Rudi wants to be as good at motherhood as she was in the music biz, but struggles when she realizes she's not the greatest parent. The series also stars Canadians Jesse Camacho ("Less Than Kind") as Dick, Gabrielle Miller ("Corner Gas") as Sarah, Cle Bennett ("Flashpoint") as 2Bit, Helen Taylor as Jenny, Rebecca Husain as Apple, and Scott McCord as Greg.

Canadians have the TV comedy market cornered. That's not me being a smug Canadian, it's just fact.
Think about it. In addition to the obvious "Second City" alumni, we've produced some serious comedic talent in this country. Maybe it's in the water. Whatever the case, this Sunday we're bidding farewell (perhaps forever) to one of the best -- if not the best -- Canadian-made TV comedies. "Less Than Kind" is finishing up its three-season run in what some are speculating might be the last-ever episode (titled 'March Fourth').
No one thought "Less Than Kind" could do it. When the patriarch of the show, Maury Chaykin, passed away in July 2010, many asked how it could possibly survive without its comedic lynchpin. The answer is simple, and has been made very clear during the season 3 run: other members of the cast, especially young Jesse Camacho, pulled it all together and put on...

In this video, Canadian director Jacob Tierney and actor Jay Baruchel talk about the Canadian teen comedy The Trotsky to Teri Hart during the show Movie Entertainment. The film talks about a seventeen-year-old teenager (Jay Baruchel) from a rich family of Montreal. This guy believes that he's the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, one of the Soviet Union founding fathers (1917). Besides, at his school, this teenager will try to unionized students.
The film has been in theatres in Canada since May 14.
It also stars Emily Hampshire, Saul Rubinek, Geneviève Bujold, Colm Feore, Michael Murphy, Anne-Marie Cadieux, Jesse Camacho, Kaniehtiio Horn, Ricky Mabe, Tommie-Amber Pirie and Jesse Rath.
Finally, here's my review of The Trotsky.

The first time I saw The Trotsky was during the previous Festival du nouveau cinema in Montreal. Many months later, my perception about this teenager comedy has hardly changed. In fact, The Trotsky is a little bit silly, yet positively irreverent, but it remains a decent film meant for entertainment.
Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel), a teenager from Montreal, believes he's the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, one of the Ussr's founding fathers, and motivated the workers of his dad's factory into a hunger strike. After that, Leon's dad (Saul Rubinek) takes him out of his boarding school and sends him in a public school. By that way, according to his dad, Leon can have the feeling that he is living the life of the real Leon Trotsky. Once there, Leon will try to give to students from his school a real union.

Some of you have probably seen The Trotsky during the last Toronto International Film Festival, Festival du nouveau cinéma or Kingston Canadian Film Festival. The wait will almost be over, because The Trotsky will hit Canadian theatres on May 14. Besides, the poster and the trailer of this comedy from Jacob Tierney have been online since a few days.

Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel), a teenager from a wealthy family, infuriated his father (Saul Rubinek), because he organized a strike at the family's clothing factory. Moreover, Leon did that because he firmly believes he's the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, a Russian communist revolutionary. As a punishment, Leon gets sent to a public school. Once there, Leon will try to unionize the students in order to live his faith to its fullest.

Although the Festival du nouveau cinéma commenced two days ago, this is the first movie from this festival that I review. To be honest with you, I wasn't necessarily attracted by this film since I'm not a fan of teenager comedies. However, despite a few weak spots here and there, you won't regret buying tickets for The Trotsky if you're in for a funny comedy.
Leon Blonstein (Jay Baruchel) is a son of a rich factory owner (Saul Rubinek). Moreover, Leon firmly believes that he's the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, one of the founding fathers of the Soviet Union. Because he motivated the workers of his dad's factory to go on strike, Leon is temporarily kept under custody by the police. Later, to get problems solved, his dad decides to take him out of a boarding school in order to send him in a public English-speaking high school from the...

You know that guy you’ve seen a heap of movies recently? Usually playing a gangly, nervy guy custom made for glasses? … you know who I mean, he’s that guy from Tropic Thunder, Fanboys and that’s right … Knocked Up, Million Dollar Baby, & so on.
His name is Jay Baruchel, he is Canadian and in another cool-looking project called ‘The Trotsky‘ playing the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, the revolutionary renegade hero from the early 1900s.
Jay Baruchel stars as Leon Bronstein in 'The Trotsky', an Alliance Films' release.
The film is written and directed by Jacob Tierney and Montreal indie rock-band Malajube has been tapped to score the soundtrack. IFC rolls on 'Twelve' with U.S. rights
NEW YORK -- IFC Films has nabbed U.S. rights to Michael Cuesta's sophomore feature "Twelve and Holding", company president Jonathan Sehring said Tuesday. An early summer platform release is planned. Cuesta's follow-up to his controversial 2001 pedophilia-themed drama "L.I.E". explores dark adolescent issues through three friends' reactions after a boy (Conor Donovan) dies in a tree house fire set by local bullies. His twin brother (also played by Donovan) sets out for revenge, and an overweight survivor of the fire (Jesse Camacho) loses his sense of taste and smell, leading him to force his obese mother to lose weight. Their female friend (Zoe Weizenbaum) tries to seduce a grief-stricken patient of her therapist mother (Annabella Sciorra). "It's sort of 'Stand By Me' for a new generation," Cuesta said of the $700,000 film, shot in 25 days in September 2004 on Super 16mm from Anthony Cipriano's screenplay. Cuesta anticipates an R rating because of some profanity and its allusions to an intergenerational romance.
