Billy Theriot is a seasoned sound professional based in New Orleans, where he runs Southern Sound Services, a top-tier facility for ADR and voiceover recording. His studio serves both local talent and top actors worldwide working on the many films and series shot in the city. In addition to voice recording, Southern Sound Services also has a Dolby-calibrated dub stage, providing sound editorial and mixing for theatrical films, streaming series, and nationwide advertising campaigns.
With over 50 feature films, documentaries, and television/streaming series to his credit, Billy has extensive experience in sound mixing, sound effects, foley, and dialogue editing. He has collaborated with Larry Blake on the sound editorial team for most of Steven Soderbergh's films from 2005 to 2023, including HBO's Behind The Candelabra, which won 11 Emmys, including Best Sound Mixing. His expertise spans the full spectrum of post-production sound, from turnover to final mix and M&E.
From 2005 to 2017, Billy worked as the ADR mixer/recordist at Swelltone Labs, where he engineered hundreds of ADR and voiceover sessions. His notable credits include serving as ADR mixer on every episode of HBO's Treme and the Academy Award-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild. For his work on the latter, Billy earned a nomination for Best Sound Editing: Dialogue and ADR at the 2013 MPSE Golden Reel Awards.
Billy also shares his expertise as an adjunct professor at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he teaches post-production sound.
