Bigfoot’s relationship with the horror genre is a strange one.
On its own, the idea of a towering woodland ape is pretty pants-shittingly scary, especially if you happen to be contemplating the legendary cryptid while in the middle of a deep dark forest. However, for some strange reason, that terror too often gets lost when it’s seen through the lens of a movie camera. Maybe it’s the aftermath of films like Harry and the Hendersons essentially turning the beast into an upright and trunkless Mr. Snuffleupagus. Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it’s just too easy to make inappropriate jokes centered around its, ahem, big feet. Whatever the reason, the vast majority of cinematic representations of Sasquatch seen in horror just don’t hit the way other monsters do.
Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. One of them is...

A young couple find themselves face to face with a terrifying evil when they venture into the heart of Bigfoot country in Willow Creek, director Bobcat Goldthwait’s unique spin on the horror genre.
“Looking to make a splash with his research videos into the existence of Bigfoot, Jim (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) take a camping trip to the mountains surrounding Willow Creek, California, a small town where famous footage of the legendary Sasquatch was filmed decades earlier. Jim believes Bigfoot exists and is intent on finding the very spot where the huge, hairy, man-like creature supposedly strode.

Hey,"Bull" fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys in this article. For some reason, CBS will not be airing the new episode 8 of this current season 4 tonight, November 11, 2019. The good news is that this delay will only be for this week. You guys can expect to see the new episode 8 air next Monday night, November 18, 2019 at approximately 9 pm central standard time on CBS of course. So, definitely be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. So, what is CBS airing tonight instead of "Bull?" That is a very good question, and we do have an answer for it. According to the TV guide listings, CBS is actually airing an episode of "Bull." It just won't be a new episode. They're airing a dreaded rerun or repeat episode. The repeat episode they are airing is the 16th episode of last season 3. This episode is titled,...

"Team Dally & Spanky!" From the "I can't believe this is really real" collection. Sony Pictures has debuted a trailer for an adorable, campy movie titled Adventures of Dally & Spanky, the feature debut of director Camille Stochitch. The "family-friendly film" tells the story of the friendship between Dally and Spanky, a miniature horse and a miniature Jack Russell Terrier. Yes, of course, this is actually based on the real-life friendship between these two. There is not much of a plot, but they do eventually bring this dog and horse combo to Hollywood in hopes of winning a live TV talent show. The film stars Brenna D'Amico, Reylynn Caster, Elaine Hendrix, Timothy Hornor, Trace Adkins, Brielle Barbusca, Kylee Russell, Jake Busey, Alexie Gilmore, and Denise Richards. This looks pretty awful, but I can't help share it anyway. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Camille Stochitch's Adventures of Dally & Spanky, on...

Though Allison Miller may be best known for TV roles such as Michelle Benjamin in Kings, Skye in Terra Nova and Carrie in Go On, the actress is starting to make some waves on the big screen as well. After starring in the thriller Devil's Due earlier this year, the actress takes on a far less frightening role as the eccentric Catherine Brown in the indie Always Woodstock, which is available in select theaters and on VOD formats starting today, November 14.
The actress portrays Catherine Brown, who has a soul-sucking job working for a major record label, but she really wants to write her own music. After she catches her boyfriend Garret (Jason Ritter), an emotionally unstable actor, cheating on her, she decides to move back to her childhood home in Woodstock, New York. This weekend’s onslaught of smaller new films will have awards contenders and big names to jostle with at the box office. Awards hopefuls Foxcatcher and The Homesman begin their theatrical runs in limited New York and L.A. rollouts, with the former a likely winner in the first weekend when the numbers come in Sunday. The films from Sony Pictures Classics and Roadside Attractions, respectively, tell particularly American stories, though from very different eras. The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart took time off in 2013 to work on his directorial debut. Open Road’s Rosewater, starring Gael García Bernal, will begin its theatrical rollout this weekend. It will be the biggest opener of this weekend’s cadre of specialty newcomers, playing in several hundred locations in the U.S. and Canada. Actor Chris Lowell also makes his filmmaking launch with Beside Still Waters. The project had smooth sailing until it came time for distribution,...

In just four years, since his breakout roles in 2010's You Again and the critically-acclaimed but short-lived drama series Lone Star, James Wolk has put together an impressive string of performances. While he's best known, of late, for playing Bob Benson on AMC's Mad Men, he has also showed off his diverse talents in For a Good Time, Call..., Shameless, Happy Endings, Political Animals and The Crazy Ones. The actor returns to the big screen this weekend in the charming indie Always Woodstock, opening in select theaters and on VOD formats November 14.
The story centers on the quirky Catherine Brown, stuck in a miserable job at a New York record label, who decides she needs a change of pace. She packs up everything and moves to her family home in Woodstock, New York. It's there she meets charming local doctor Noah Bernstein (James Wolk)

Blair Witch meets Bigfoot as a documentary maker (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend (Alexie Gilmore) head into the California backwoods in search of the American yeti. Would you believe me if I told you that Bobcat Golthwait contributed more to the world of film than just screaming a the camera? I’d wager to say that even casual viewers of cinema have seen a film that the man has directed, even if they didn’t realize it. Recently Bobcat came back onto the scene with a little angry film called God Hates America, and it was one of my favorite films the year it was released. When I heard he was trying his hand at horror, with a Bigfoot-themed “found footage” film, it immediately piqued my interest. Based on everything I had read about the film, it promised to be returning to the roots of found footage, and styling itself more after Blair Witch than anything else. I’m happy to report that those claims are valid, and it really is an interested little take on the genre.

The Fault in Their Yeti: Goldthwait’s Found Footage Cheapie a Generic Endeavor
Following his bitterly angry vituperation of American culture in 2013’s God Bless America, a problematic yet passionately realized film (and, sometimes, quite funny), Bobcat Goldthwait tackles the found footage subgenre with Willow Creek. Going for a sasquatch version of The Blair Witch Project, featuring a romantically involved couple engaging in a video project revolving around an area where the big ape-like creature has been often sited, it’s certainly a more entertaining film on the subject than, say, those Boggy Creek films. As far as found footage goes, Goldthwaite seems to have made this fast, loose, and strictly by the numbers. Certain chilling moments during a protracted night time sequence in a tent are indeed calibrated to give the film’s core audience exactly what it’s looking for. But it’s simply not enough to make...

Deviating from caustic comedies, Bobcat Goldthwait reaches into his toolbox and delivers a surprising foray into found-footage horror. "Willow Creek" embraces the limitations of this now-tired genre and breathes new life into it—it's not a true original but certainly a memorable rumination. Effectively a two-hander with our leads Jim (Bryce Johnson) and Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) dominating the frame for the majority of the running time, "Willow Creek" does a commendable job in fleshing out the ill-fated couple. Presented as a malformed Bigfoot documentary, Jim, steeped in cryptid mythology, strikes out to retrace the steps once taken by Roger Patterson and Bob Gilmin, whose footage, though largely dismissed as a probable hoax, remains hotly debated and cited. Along for the ride is his skeptical partner, Kelly, who embarks on the venture to support the idealistic Jim, enveloped by the Bigfoot legend and reveling at the townsfolk who've made a living out of marketing it.

Being a huge fan of Bobcat Goldthwait since his 1987 standup show “Share The Warmth,” I’ve seen him go from actor to comedian to writer-director. Huey Lewis, Barnacle scrapers, and Top Gun were never thought of the same way again after his concert.
There was nothing like him when he first came on the scene and almost thirty years later, the man is still a genius.
Described by Jimmy Kimmel as “Scary and the Hendersons” and by Bobcat himself as “The Blair-Squatch Project,” found footage movie Willow Creek is a radical departure in Goldthwait’s career after directing a string of black comedies (World’S Greatest Dad, God Bless America).
In the great American tradition of people venturing into the woods and encountering absolutely pants-wetting terror, what starts as two dorks with a video camera having a lark in a national park metastasizes into something much deeper, darker, and queasier.

Bobcat Goldthwait is racking up the director credits over on his IMDb resume. Two of his biggest hits so far, comedy Sleeping Dogs Lie and the underrated Robin Williams-starrer, World’s Greatest Dad, are in a world of their own when compared to his latest effort. Shot in 2013, found footage horror Willow Creek isn’t what you would come to expect from the comedian who made his name playing helium-pitched buffoons. His big break came as the absolutely crackers Zed in the Police Academy franchise, who stole most of his scenes what with his bizarre fish-kissing antics and the like. Times have changed though and so has Goldthwait – whose current goal is to scare your trousers brown.

Writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait is back with what looks like something different for the offbeat filmmaker. If you have seen his great movies World’s Greatest Dad and God Bless America then you will understand what I mean. Bobcat Goldthwait is no stranger to prestigious festivals. His 2006 film "Stay" played Sundance and Tiff (among others), while "God Bless America" hit Tiff and SXSW (and more), while even "World's Greatest Dad" stopped in Deauville and Stockholm among other places. As for "Willow Creek"? Well, it hit Fantasia in Montreal, smaller fests in Toronto, Vancouver and some other places. A step down for the filmmaker? Well, a new trailer is here so you can judge for yourself. Led by Alexie Gilmore and Bryce Johnson, Goldthwait's latest is a found footage exercise, following a young couple — one of whom is a Bigfoot believer — who head into Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California, to try and capture the creature on camera. Of course, things don't go as planned and there is lots of shaky cam and reacting to things off camera. Haven't we been here before? Hopefully there's a bit more...

Since the famous footage of the crypto critter in 1967, Bigfoot enthusiasts have been taking to the California wilderness in search of more evidence year after year. Such is the object of writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait's latest effort, Willow Creek, which follows Bigfoot believer Jim (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) as they head to the title town in the hopes of snagging a look at the beast. What begins as a good-natured trip into the absurd ends in horror as the couple is at the mercy of the forest and those who dwell within it. The first trailer for the creature feature is now online, along with its first poster. Unfortunately, Willow Creek uses the tired found-footage technique to get its story across while apparently doing little to advance or innovate the genre. Perhaps there's more to the style than the trailer shows, much like there's probably...

The bigfoot legend gets a found footage twist in the new horror movie Willow Creek. Directed by comedian-turned-filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait — who has described it as “The Blair-Squatch Project” – the movie stars Bryce Johnson (Pretty Little Liars) as a bigfoot believer who heads deep into California’s Six Rivers National Forest on a quest to record the mythical beast. He’s also accompanied by his reluctant girlfriend, played by Alexie Gilmore.
Willow Creek debuts in theaters and on VOD June 6, but you can exclusively check out the film’s new poster above — and the new trailer below.

Another week passes and yet another found footage film is out. Lately though I’d say I’ve been lucky and the ones that I’ve had to review have actually been good movies. Willow Creek is an interesting idea, hunting down Bigfoot at least pulls away from the usual ghost hunting that seems popular with found footage, and with a director/writer like Bobcat Goldthwait you can’t help but be hopeful that Willow Creek could be something just a little special.
When Jim (Bryce Johnson) and Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) decide to make a documentary about Bigfoot the best place to start appears to be Willow Creek. As they arrive though they soon find that the locals are not as welcoming as they would have hoped, and they soon find it clear that people just want them to leave.

Nerve-wracking horror Willow Creek comes to DVD on 26 May 2014 and to celebrate, we have 3 DVDs to give away!
Directed by celebrated film-maker Bobcat Goldthwait (God Bless America, World’s Greatest Dad, Sleeping Dogs), Willow Creek was well received at several festivals last year including Fantasia, Sitges and Frightfest, where it was named as the winner of Total Film’s Best Scare.
Jim (Bryce Johnson – Pretty Little Liars) and his girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore – Definitely, Maybe) are visiting the infamous Willow Creek, the alleged home of the original Bigfoot legend – the tale of huge ape like creatures that roam the forests of North America. It was there that in 1967, the legendary beast was captured on film and has terrified and mystified generations since.
Keen to explore more than 50 years of truth, folklore, misidentifications and hoaxes, Kelly goes along for the ride to keep Jim happy, whilst Jim is determined to prove...

Footage has been found of a couple on the hunt for Bigfoot and the site where that infamous Bigfoot film of 1967 was made, known as Bluff Creek. That in itself suggests the fate of these two intrepid explorers as they search around in the nearby town looking at evidence and gathering interviews. Despite being warned away by locals through use of polite suggestion and angry threats they head off into the forest itself in search of the beast armed with a tent and their camera equipment.
“Ha, you’ll be fine.” Jim (Bryce Johnson) says to his girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) at the start of this film, which no doubt makes the entire audience roll their eyes as they think “Oh no he didn’t!” Willow Creek is a hand held camera, found footage horror flick, so you prepare yourself for shaky footage,...

Across a diverse career, and a range of eclectic projects, Bobcat Goldthwait has now turned his head to the horror genre, and in particular, found footage, in his latest picture, Willow Creek.
We had the pleasure of speaking to the comedian turned actor turned director, about his decision to explore this genre and why he chose the myth of Bigfoot as his base for this tale. He also tells us whether he was scared when shooting on location, and what made actor Bryce Johnson cry during a take…
So why did you decide to tackle the horror genre? Was it one you were always keen on exploring?
Well I don’t really think of it like that, I just think about how I can do something, can I pull it off, and that’s what I think about. My favourite filmmakers are people like Billy Wilder, who did all kind of things.

Found-footage horror by a former Police Academy star about a couple searching for America's mythical Sasquatch apeman gets properly creepy
As un film de Bobcat Goldthwait, the former comedian co-star of Police Academy films turned cult auteur, Willow Creek is a mild disappointment, lacking as it does in the out-there wackitude of Shakes the Clown or the scrappy satirical vigour of World's Greatest Dad or God Bless America. But as a horror film using that now-tired device, "found footage" supposedly shot by the characters themselves,, it's quite passable. Alexie Gilmore and Bryce Johnson star as a semi-likable, semi-obnoxious hipster couple who venture into the woods of northern California to shoot a YouTube documentary about the legend of Bigfoot, aka Sasquatch. (Goldthwait has described the film as The Blair Squatch Project.) In town, they snark at the tacky Bigfoot merchandising and wryly interview the locals (played by real people), but once...

Generally speaking, you often associate the found footage genre with younger filmmakers, working on a smaller budget, hoping to create something accessible, and frankly, somewhat basic with limited financial backing. It’s therefore fascinating to see established directors hone their crafts in this style and inject their experience into the genre, as following on from Barry Levinson’s commendable endeavour The Bay, now Bobcat Goldthwait turns his head to found footage with Willow Creek.
Alexie Gilmore and Bryce Johnson play Kelly and Jim, respectively, a couple who set out to explore the mythology surrounding Bigfoot. The latter is a firm believer in the creature and aspiring documentarian, so they head to Humboldt County in California to speak to locals, and to camp in the very same woods the famous 1967 sighting took place, are find out if the rumours of Bigfoot’s existence are true, once and for all.

★★☆☆☆In Bobcat Goldthwait's God Save America follow-up Willow Creek (2013), Alexie Gilmore and Bryce Johnson play Kelly and Jim, a young couple heading out into the great outdoors to look for the legendary figure of Bigfoot. Kelly is an aspiring actress and wryly sceptical about the expedition, while Jim is a goofy enthusiast pursuing a childhood fascination. On the way, the pair interview creepy Sasquatch experts, ambivalent eye-witnesses and singing hill-billies. They stay at the Bigfoot Motel, eat Bigfoot burgers and visit the museum to gape at the pictures and snigger at the models. Their final destination is on a patch of land near to Willow Creek, where the famous Patterson-Gimlin footage was shot.

We told you that the sliver of sasquatchploitation from Bobcat Goldthwait known as Willow Creek (review) has scored itself some domestic distribution via Dark Sky Films, and now we have some release details for ya!
Mpi will release the flick in NYC on June 6th at the IFC Center with a theatrical rollout to follow.
Described by Jimmy Kimmel as “Scary and the Hendersons” and by writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait himself as “The Blair-Squatch Project,” found footage movie Willow Creek is a radical departure in Goldthwait’s career after directing a string of black comedies (World’s Greatest Dad, God Bless America).
In the great American tradition of people venturing into the woods and encountering absolutely pants-wetting terror, what starts as two dorks with a video camera having a lark in a national park metastasizes into something much deeper, darker, and queasier.
Set in Humboldt County, California, Willow Creek centers on Jim (Bryce Johnson,...

Whether or not it’s meant to set the stage for ABC’s new drama Mind Games - which premieres tomorrow night – tonight’s Castle does do a good job of showing how the human mind can be tampered with. “Room 147″ also sees the return of Alexis (Molly Quinn) and delivers the long-awaited news that Pi (Myko Olivier) is history.
At the start, the case is every bit as bland and boring as Castle (Nathan Fillion) says it is. A man is dead and a woman has confessed to killing him. The problem is, Anita (Alexie Gilmore) was seen by plenty of other people at a restaurant at the time of the murder. Only when ...

Bobcat Goldthwait directed a “found footage” horror movie about a couple searching for Bigfoot called Willow Creek. Why should you care about that statement? Go and watch World’s Greatest Dad and God Bless America, come back, and re-read my statement. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Willow Creek
Written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait
USA, 2013
While trying to document and find evidence of the mythical Bigfoot, believer Jim (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) arrive at Willow Creek, near where the famous Patterson-Gimlin film was originally shot. Despite the many warnings from locals to stay away, the couple venture into the woods to find Bigfoot, which doesn’t go too well, to say the least.
Although a good chunk of the film early on is dedicated more to setting up the history and mythos behind Bigfoot than actual exposition (which, given its found-footage/faux-documentary style, is understandable if tedious), the film manages to preserve a human element thanks to the tangible chemistry and humour shared between the two leads.
While comparisons to The Blair Witch Project is inevitable, Willow Creek manages to stand out with its expert use of sound and pregnant moments of silence to build tension,...
