Jim has been a SAG member since 1985, working extensively in the Detroit area doing commercials and industrial work. Early training included on-camera acting at the A.F.I. in Los Angeles. He also worked and trained in Chicago and New York. He began professional theatre work in Detroit in 1991. He began acting at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea Michigan founded by Jeff Daniels in 1996. He has been involved in over twenty productions there and is a Resident Artist. He played Albert "Pop" Soady in Escanaba in da Moonlight at the Gem Theatre in Detroit which became the longest running straight play in Michigan History. Film works include Escanaba in da Moonlight, Kill the Irishman, Prayers for Bobby, and Last Man Standing.
