Wolfgang Weigl, edited his first films in the projection room of the local cinema, where he operated the projector for several years. He then made a name for himself as assistant editor to Wim Wenders editor Peter Przygodda.
Since 2001 he has been working as a freelance film editor for numerous feature films and documentaries. He has also edited award-winning advertising campaigns and music videos. His work has been honored with several Awards.
Besides editing, he also realizes his own films. He graduated from the Rogue Filmschool under the direction of Werner Herzog. In 2005 he founded the film production Piratenfilm and realized his feature film debut "blindlings", which premiered at the Munich Film Festival and was nominated in four categories for the "Förderpreis Neues Deutsches Kino"
Since 2020 he is a member of the German Film Academy.
He lives in Switzerland and Germany
