Fans learned the news of the two latest NCIS spinoffs in early 2024. NCIS: Origins will air alongside the original NCIS series in the Fall 2024 TV lineup.

NCIS: Origins is debuting, so here are some classic NCIS episodes to watch to get ready for it!

NCIS fans have long been missing Agent Jethro Gibbs. The heart of the series since it debuted as a backdoor pilot on Jag, Gibbs was loved for his stern demeanor, dedication to his job, sometimes wry humor and tragic backstory of losing a wife and child. Mark Harmon made the character beloved, so it was a shock when Gibbs opened Season 19 by quitting to retire to Alaska.

Fortunately, Harmon will be returning to the franchise in a unique way. NCIS: Origins takes us back to 1993 with Austin Stowell playing a younger Gibbs joining the agency and how he became the agent we know. It looks to be an intriguing spin on the franchise and to prepare for it, these episodes are must-watch to see what parts of Gibbs' life can come to play.

On Monday, Sept. 25, CBS is officially celebrating “NCIS Day” — exactly 20 years (…plus two days) after the Jag spinoff made its broadcast debut. The well-watched NCIS mothership has aired 459 episodes to date, and with all offshoots (including NCIS: Sydney) combined, the franchise will reach a milestone 1,000th episode (!) during NCIS’ 21st season (premiere date Tbd). If there is a giant “1,000” cake, I demand a slice.

“Reunited and it feels sooo goood,” Alexander, who back in the day played Caitlin “Kate” Todd to Weatherly’s Tony Dinozzo, wrote as a caption (see below).

On Saturday, Donald Trump formally nominated Amy Coney Barrett to take the place of late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the Supreme Court.

Barrett is a conservative 7th Circuit appeals judge from Indiana who has been a federal judge for three years. Early in her career she also served on George W. Bush’s legal team in the Bush v. Gore decision that handed the presidency to Bush despite his popular vote loss in 2000.

In his announcement Saturday, Trump described Barrett as a “towering intellect” who had “unyielding loyalty to the Constitution.”

In a statement released shortly after Barrett’s nomination was announced, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden called out the Trump administration’s ongoing effort to have the Affordable Care Act struck down, which would eliminate its protections for people with preexisting conditions. “Today, President Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett as the successor to Justice Ginsburg’s seat.

There are a lot of secret siblings on television.

Plenty of TV shows tend to build their foundation on common tropes such as the cringe-worthy love triangle trope and the long lost sibling trope.

If you need to stir up some drama, especially in a campy teen series, there's no better way than by bringing in a secret sibling that's jealous, scorned, vengeful, broken, betrayed, looking for a family, or all of the above.

Some secret siblings are introduced in a sensical way with the serious laying some breadcrumbs leading up to the introduction.

Other reveals come out of left field and frustrate audiences by appearing as mere plot devices thrown in for the sake of it.

And sometimes, the trope works well as the secret siblings become pivotal to the storyline and the main character's development.

NCIS Reveals the Nature of the Beast

NCIS‘s ninth season begins with Kate Todd’s psychiatrist sister, Rachel (Wendy Makkena), arriving at the hospital on Gibbs’s report an NCIS agent has been shot. She goes in to see that it’s Dinozzo, who seems relatively fine, except, as a result of the attempt on his life, he suffered a concussion and couldn’t remember the details of his special assignment from new SecNav, Clay Jarvis (Matt Craven).

Over the summer, I came to question whether NCIS could genuinely keep things fresh going into Season 9. The structure of the premiere was similar to the Season 7 premiere, in which the team rescued Ziva from a terrorist camp. Flashbacks filled in the story time between late May and September, revealing more of Tony’s mission as they went along. I don’t mean the episodes compare too closely, but longtime fans...

Blasts from the past will be dredged up on the February 8 episode of NCIS.

The clip-heavy 14th episode of the season revolves around the stressed out agents being forced into therapy with a clinical psychologist to try to lessen their angst.

During their individual sessions, Gibbs and his subordinates back to some of their most emotionally taxing cases. Atop the list, obviously, will be Kate Todd's death.

The demise of Sasha Alexander's character remains one of the show's most shocking story lines in seven-plus seasons. Heck, the re-run on USA is still shocking.

We don't Think this is the same episode that features Dinozzo-centric flashbacks.

This one will feature old clips, including some of Kate, rather than new scenes set in the past, like we saw in last fall's terrific Vance-Eli David double episode.
