Attended Princeton University, where he met Dean Cain.

His father Winter D. Horton Jr. (1929-2009) was co-founder of PBS station KCET (Los Angeles).

His mother was Carol Horton.

His grandfather was the brother of Edward Everett Horton.

Cousin of June Horton.
