There’s nothing more painful for a fan than to see their favorite television actors get snubbed at the Emmy Awards, and one Game of Thrones alum was certainly robbed of the recognition. For eight seasons, actress Lena Headey proved that she was the power villain of the HBO franchise, and it was such a crime not to give her a win.

Meanwhile, every year at the event, we see the cast of Breaking Bad earning their well-deserved awards. It’s such a unique spectacle watching all three lead stars of the show reap the fruits of their labor.

Game of Thrones is all about politics, and more than any other dramatic storyline featured in the show, the power struggle will always be its central theme. It’s not difficult to see how much the story mirrors real-life events, and the author has confirmed that US politics indeed influenced it to some extent.

We know which periods of history Martin based his A Song of Ice and Fire novels, and during the time he was drafting the earlier stories, the US had a different political leader. As times changed, so did the president – and this had a great impact on the writer’s works.

George Rr Martin has mentioned that his hit novel franchise was based on the politics of the Middle Ages, the Crusades, the Wars of the Roses, and the Hundred Years’ War.

Not everyone liked the idea of a new Game of Thrones movie, and that’s totally fine – after all, a film based on the original HBO show does not make sense. Unless they come up with a new storyline that doesn’t repeat what we’ve already seen on television, this project will remain questionable.

If superhero fatigue is real, it’s not too far to have the same exhaustion when it comes to Game of Thrones. An eight-season run is already generous, and the last few installments have been underwhelming, thus giving the franchise a major shot to the gut.

Earlier this year, we got confirmation that HBO's planned Game of Thrones sequel series following the continuing adventures of Jon Snow - real name Aegon Targaryen - had been shelved.
Actor Kit Harington, who was set to reprise his role as the honourable "bastard" of Winterfell turned rightful heir to the Iron Throne, revealed that the show will not be moving forward while speaking to Screen Rant.
“Currently, it’s off the table because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough," Harington explained. "So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

Let's be honest: not every "Game of Thrones" episode is a winner. Sure, the show's first four seasons are basically unimpeachable — and I think a strong argument can be made that, in the aftermath of a particularly bleak fifth entry, season 6 is actually really good — but the drop-off in quality when you get into the show's (frequently derided) later seasons is quite apparent, resulting in some really rough episodes. So, which ones are the absolute worst of the worst?
Because I can't nominate "all of season 7 and 8" for this dubious honor, I made some tough decisions and chose the five absolute crappiest "Game of Thrones" episodes, though there were some contenders I couldn't include here. Basically anything involving the Dorne plotline could have qualified, or anything involving the faceless assassin school in Braavos that beats the spirit out of Maisie Williams' Arya Stark. But installments like "No One" or "Mother's...

Henry Winkler and Lena Headey have joined Bob Odenkirk in the upcoming action movie “Normal,” from the producing team behind the 2021 hit “Nobody.”
In “Normal,” Odenkirk plays Ulysses, who is appointed substitute sheriff in the tiny Minnesota town of Normal, populated by friendly Midwesterners. When the local bank is sacked, Ulysses “unknowingly uncovers something far more explosive than a simple bank robbery,” per the logline.
Winkler, star of “Happy Days” and “Barry,” will play the mayor of Normal, while “Game of Thrones” and “300” favorite Headey is the local bartender, Moira.
“Normal” is directed by Ben Wheatley from a screenplay written by “John Wick” creator Derek Kolstad, who shares a story credit with Odenkirk. Producers are Marc Provissiero (“Nobody,” “No Hard Feelings”), Odenkirk and Kolstad, who all recently wrapped “Nobody 2.”

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles Creator Josh Friedman On James Cameron, Cancer, And Cancellation
Sarah Connor was dead. Or was she? Well, yes, according to 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines – but death can’t compete with TV. It was 2006 when Josh Friedman, who had co-written Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds, was approached by Warner Bros. Television to write what would become The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A series picking up from where James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day left off, it followed Sarah (Lena Headey) and her prodigious son John (Thomas Dekker) as they, along with Cameron (Summer Glau), a protector Terminator, continued to battle Skynet and evade murderous cyborg stalkers. Launching in January 2008, it enjoyed two seasons until it was, in April 2009, abruptly… well, terminated.
Fifteen years on, we speak to Friedman about legacy, cancer, and Shirley Manson disguised as a urinal.

Westeros is filled with lousy fathers: Robert Baratheon, Balon Greyjoy, and the Wilding Craster who sells his sons (born from daughters he rapes) to the White Walkers. Worst of all, though, is Tywin Lannister (played by Charles Dance in the "Game of Thrones" TV adaptation). He treats none of his three children well; Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey), the visage of a perfect knight and queen but without the hearts of them, are vessels for the glory of House Lannister, no more. Tywin is so incapable of understanding the twins have wills of their own that he would not believe their terrible, incestuous secret when he heard it from Cersei's own mouth.
If Tywin at least prizes his two eldest children, he has only scorn for his youngest, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). Tyrion had the misfortune of being born a dwarf while his mother Joanna passed in childbirth. His...

If you’ve just watched The Shadow Strays on Netflix and are craving more high-octane, brutal action movies that are like it in some way, this list is for you. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, this relentless action epic is filled with violent standoffs, breakneck fight choreography, and a morally conflicted heroine navigating a dangerous underworld. With its maximalist style, excessive bloodshed, and a narrative centered around mercenaries who kill for the highest bidder, the film offers a dizzying ride that prioritizes visceral thrills over emotional depth.

What’s going on with Netflix‘s “The Abandons“? On paper, the Western series has the potential to be a big hit for the streamer: an all-star cast featuring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson; a sprawling Western epic in a similar vein to “Yellowstone“; and “Sons Of Anarchy” alum Kurt Sutter helming the project. But as of this week, Deadline reports Sutter is off “The Abandons” with one episode left to film in Calgary, with executive producers Otto Bathurst and Rob Askins overseeing the rest of filming.

Netflix and creator Kurt Sutter have parted ways on the streamer’s western The Abandons.
Sutter, who created the drama and was serving as showrunner, left the show over creative differences with Netflix. The Abandons, set in the Oregon Territory in the 1850s, has a few weeks of production on its season remaining and will continue filming in Calgary, Alberta.
Netflix declined comment.
Netflix gave a straight-to-series order to The Abandons in October 2022. The series, which stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, centers on a group of outlier families in 1850s Oregon who come together to fight a corrupt, wealthy power that wants to force them off their land. The cast also includes Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Natalia del Riego, Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Toby Hemingway, Michael Greyeyes, Ryan Hurst, Katelyn Wells, Clayton Cardenas, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, Brían F. Shocking news from Netflix today, as controversial showrunner Kurt Sutter has abruptly departed his new series The Abandons.
The show is reportedly in the final weeks of production on its first season.
Perhaps Kurt took the title a bit too literally?
According to a report from Deadline, the departure “is believed to stem from creative differences over the direction of the big-scale production as it is wrapping filming and headed into post.” (Photo by Rich Polk/Getty Images for IMDb)
Sutter, who’s best known for his work on Sons of Anarchy, is famous for his commitment to his singular artistic vision.
That makes him a bit of an awkward fit at Netflix, where execs have a reputation for micromanaging.
Today’s Deadline report claims that Sutter clashed with his streaming bosses over the running time of The Abandons’ pilot.
Sutter’s cut of the episode allegedly clocked in at one hour and forty minutes.

If you are looking forward to Kurt Sutter's upcoming Netflix original Western drama series The Abandons, the latest update on the series probably isn't what you want to hear. Sutter has officially stepped down as executive producer and showrunner on the series mere weeks before the first season was set to wrap filming. No one saw that coming!
According to a report from Deadline, the reason behind Sutter's sudden departure from The Abandons has to do with "creative differences" regarding the direction of the series. As the outlet explains, Netflix wasn't on board with a cut of the seven-episode series' first episode, which clocked in with a 100-minute runtime.
Following the discovery of the movie-length pilot episode, the plan moving forward was to split the first episode into two episodes. That called for the creation of a newly written cliffhanger and additional scenes to allow both episodes to stand on their own.

Deadline reports that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited The Abandons just three weeks before production on the first season of the Netflix series was slated to wrap. As always, the reason apparently comes down to those dreaded creative differences.
The report states that Netflix was concerned when the initial cut of the first episode came in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. It proved impossible to trim the episode down to an hour, so they decided it should be split into two. This required some additional scenes to create a cliffhanger for the new premiere, which have reportedly been written but not shot. After viewing the unfinished split episodes and part of the third, Netflix felt they “looked a bit disjointed and not propulsive enough.” A meeting between Netflix execs and Sutter to address the concerns didn’t take place before he departed.
Beyond going over budget and some alleged “friction with top talent,...

Kurt Sutter has left his new Netflix show, according to multiple media reports. The showrunner best known for creating “Sons of Anarchy” departed “The Abandons” three weeks before production was scheduled to wrap in Calgary.
The upcoming Western drama stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. Its executive producer and director Otto Bathurst as well as its co-exec producer Rob Askins will oversee the rest of the shoot. No new showrunner has been named. It’s been reported that the departure came down to creative differences.
TheWrap reached out to Netflix and representatives for Sutter for comment.
Set in the 1850s, “The Abandons” follows Fiona Nolan (Headey), a devout Irish woman who is incapable of conceiving a child. Believing in a higher purpose, she tries to build a family by adopting four orphans. But it isn’t long before she begins to face hardship after European aristocrats claim possession of her new home in Oregon.

Kurt Sutter has departed his upcoming Netflix Western series “The Abandons” just weeks before production on the series is scheduled to end, Variety has confirmed with sources.
“The Abandons” went into production in Calgary, Alberta, Canada back in May and is scheduled to wrap in mid-October. Sutter created the series and also served as executive producer and showrunner. It was originally ordered to series at Netflix in October 2022 and was first reported to be in development at the streaming giant back in November 2021.
Reps for Netflix declined to comment, but sources say that Sutter’s exit from the show came over creative differences after Netflix saw a rough cut of the first episodes. Reportedly, the first episode was so long that the plan was to split it into two, necessitating the shooting of additional scenes. Exclusive: This is a shocker — Kurt Sutter is out of the Netflix series The Abandons just three weeks before the sprawling Western starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson is slated to wrap production in Calgary. Sutter was the executive producer/showrunner on the series, which he also created.
The Abandons executive producer/director Otto Bathurst and co-exec producer Rob Askins will oversee the rest of filming — including reshoots, which will continue as scheduled with no new showrunner named. Reps for Netflix and Sutter declined comment.

Back in 2022, it was announced that Fighting with My Family co-stars Nick Frost and Lena Headey were going to reunite to work on the serial killer thriller Svalta, which was set to start filming in Finland soon… but then Headey had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues before it started rolling in 2023 and was replaced by Aisling Bea, whose previous credits include This Way Up, Living with Yourself, and Home Sweet Home Alone. Last month, IFC Films and the Shudder streaming service acquired the North American distribution rights to Svalta, which is now going by the title Get Away, and the plan is that IFC Films will be giving the movie a theatrical release on December 6th. Get Away will then make its way over to Shudder sometime in 2025. As we dive into spooky season, a trailer for Get Away has now arrived online and can...

In 2019, George R.R. Martin watched, along with the rest of the world, as "Game of Thrones" ended not with a bang but with a whimper. According to the author, who penned the source material "A Song of Ice and Fire," he could have physically appeared in the final season if he'd wanted to ... but he declined the offer when it came from showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
"David and Dan invited me to a cameo in one of the final episodes, which I was tempted to do," Martin told Entertainment Weekly back in February of 2019, before the series finally concluded. "But I didn't think just for the sake of a cameo I could take the time to return to Belfast." Martin lives in New Mexico full time, and to be fair to the author, that's a really long trek to make just for a short appearance. There's also the...

George R.R. Martin’s net worth could make even the Lannisters blush, especially when you compare it to Kit Harington’s earnings from Game of Thrones. While Jon Snow may have been King in the North, it turns out Martin was the real ruler of Westeros’ riches. With GoT pulling in record-breaking numbers, Martin’s creation lined his pockets more generously than Harington’s per-episode paycheck ever could.

Sure, Harrington donned the fur cloak and wielded Longclaw like a boss, but Martin’s royalties, book sales, and the occasional Iron Throne of cash mean he didn’t need to slay a single White Walker to win the financial battle. Westeros might be dangerous, but the real winner was sitting behind a typewriter.

For years now, rumors have swirled that two "Game of Thrones" stars — Lena Headey, who played Cersei Lannister, and Jerome Flynn, who played Bronn — wouldn't appear together on-screen after a terrible breakup in real life. So is it true?
It's not, according to Flynn himself. During a 2019 appearance at Con of Thrones in Nashville, Flynn addressed the rumors and said that, contrary to what he'd heard, the two were on fine terms. "We were actually in the same scene together, and the last time I saw Lena we were speaking, so I wouldn't believe everything you read, and like I said, [the media] can get pretty desperate for stories," Flynn said before praising Headey: "Lena is a wonderful person and a wonderful actress. I think the world of her."

Breaking Bad premiered in 2008, running for five seasons till 2013. The American TV show soon became one of the best crime drama shows ever written, with fans idolizing the characters. The premise follows Walter White, a high-school chemistry teacher who joins the life of crime to secure his family’s financial future.
Fans of the show loved all of its morally grey characters, but there was one notable exception. Skyler White played by Anna Gunn was famously hated by the viewers, and this soon translated into real life for the actress. She recalled receiving death threats and online hate for her on-screen character’s actions, a move she credits to sexism.
From reel character to real consequences
Breaking Bad ended with its final season in 2013, but fans of the show still swear by its brilliant action sequences and intriguing plot. The series also gave its viewers some badass characters, the protagonist Walter White for example.
