Like Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage before it, Venom: The Last Dance doesn't exactly have the strongest of scripts.

Plot holes aren't hard to find; for example, why after doing his best to avoid transforming would Venom then do so just for a dance with Mrs. Chen? (resulting in the Xenophage nearly killing them and his and Eddie Brock's eventual capture).

Still, fans were quick to pick up on the fact the threequel made a point of establishing that Detective Pat Mulligan's Symbiote had abandoned him after his run-in with Venom and Carnage in the previous movie. Seeing as the cop was bonded with another of the aliens before being killed, this surely means Toxin is still out there, right?

Perhaps not.

When Venom: The Last Dance hit theaters, it didn’t just wrap up the symbiote saga—it flipped the visual script. Tom Hardy, always one to push boundaries, championed a bold new challenge: letting Venom step out of the shadows—literally. Hardy wanted fans to see the antihero in broad daylight, something that hadn’t been done in the previous films. And wow, did it change the game?

Reflecting on the trilogy, Hardy explained, “The visual effects are getting better and better, but one of the challenges in this movie was that we wanted to see Venom during the daylight. Because that’s a complicated exposition… At nighttime, you can technically hide a multitude of sins.” Translation: the cover of Night made things more accessible, but Hardy and director Kelly Marcel weren’t about to take the easy road.

Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance failed to impress both the audience and critics and received a lackluster response at the box office. Its next project, Kraven the Hunter, similarly might not excel in that area, but it did manage to impress fans with something the MCU could never nail: an epic poster.

Previous posters for Marvel films appeared to be mechanical and held no real creativity, thus failing to create the appropriate buzz, but Sony has taken notes. The 47-year-old Venom actor spent the day filming scenes for Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming Paramount+ series on Thursday (November 28) in London, England.

Tom was seen on set wearing a dark jacket and jeans.

Guy and fellow actors Jasmine Jobson and Antonio Gonzalez Guerrero were also seen on set.

The upcoming series was initially viewed as a spinoff of the Showtime series Ray Donovan, it has developed into something of its own.

According to Variety, the official series description states that the show is “centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”

Sony’s strategy has opened the door to some wild, offbeat stories, from Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web to Morbius, doing its own thing. But Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the chaotic antihero, Venom, has truly defined this franchise. As Hardy revealed, the biggest shock for fans might be the film’s unexpected technical twist: bringing Venom into the daylight.

It might sound simple, but as Hardy shared with CinemaBlend, getting the symbiote into the sunlight posed a significant challenge. “One of the challenges in this movie was that we wanted to see Venom during the daylight,” Hardy explained. “It’s a huge exposure point for Venom. Ilm has shared some shots of the work they did on the threequel, specifically highlighting the Symbiote's final form in the movie's closing moments. As you'll recall, the blockbuster concluded with Venom separating from Eddie Brock to wrap itself around the Xenophage, dragging it into an acid shower which destroyed them both.

Venom became giant-sized and, just to punctuate his demise, Rex Strickland blew himself and the two aliens up to ensure the rampaging Xenophage could no longer threaten Earth. Eddie and Venom's "Codex" was also destroyed, leaving Knull trapped on Klyntar...for now, at least.

Guy Ritchie’s new crime series doesn’t have an official title, but it does have a stellar cast. Paramount+ announced the series will star Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day), Helen Mirren (1923), and Tom Hardy (Venom: The Last Dance) as series regulars.

Paramount+ describes the project as “an electrifying, new global crime series centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”

The untitled project is a global crime series centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.

Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family, while Brosnan will play Conrad Harrigan, the head of a successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works. Mirren will play Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and the Harrigan family matriarch.

The series is produced in association with Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. The project will debut globally in 2025 on Paramount+ and the Paramount+ with Showtime platform in the U.S.

Last month, it was reported that Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan were in talks to star in a new Guy Ritchie series called The Associate, which was to believed to be a spin-off of the Showtime series Ray Donovan. The Associate was also once thought to be called The Donovans, which had the following synopsis: “With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner, and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.” Guy Ritchie was to direct The Donovans and executive produce alongside series writer Ronan Bennett.

Production is underway in London on Guy Ritchie’s untitled global crime drama (fka The Associates) for Paramount+ With Showtime, starring Tom Hardy (Peaky Blinders), Pierce Brosnan (Remington Steele) and Helen Mirren (1923).

When first announced in October, the story was that Paramount+’s announced Ray Donovan spinoff had morphed into the aforementioned series, which would no longer be connected to the #7SeasonsAndAMovie Showtime drama.

After Venom: The Last Dance, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is preparing for the release of Kraven the Hunter. The long-range forecast is here, and it does not look very optimistic. However, there is still time before it hits the theatres, and hopefully, it will not suffer the same fate as Madame Web, which came out earlier this year. Scroll below for the deets.

It features Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role, who has appeared in the MCU before as Pietro Maximoff. In addition to him, the film also features Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe in supporting roles. There is not a lot of buzz around the film, and to be honest, Venom 3 is only performing decently at the cinemas, and it might end up being the lowest-grossing film in the franchise.

It was previously reported that the trio were in final negotiations to join the show. The project had initially been developed with the title “The Donovans,” with plans to function as an across-the-pond spin-off of the Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” which was led by Liev Schreiber for seven seasons and a film adaptation. However, it has been reworked into a standalone series with no connections to that franchise. It was also previously reported that it was filming under the working title “The Associate,” but that is no longer the case.

Last week, reports flew in suggesting that the Japanese giant was looking to also grab FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation, under its wing. This sparked an outrage in the community as players weren’t trustful of Sony after what had happened with Firewalk Studios and Concord.

However, it seems like the company was trying to save FromSofware and Kadokawa Corporate from a hostile takeover by none other than Kakao.

Dexter‘s prequel series Original Sin, which will follow the original show’s central character during his teenage years, will be available to stream on Paramount+ (for subscribers with the Paramount+ With Showtime plan) beginning Friday, Dec. 13. Exclusive: David O. Sacks Productions, Mark Goffman and Getaway Entertainment are teaming to produce a feature-length film about Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic founder of Bitcoin, with Sophia Banks set to direct. The movie, based on Andrew O’Hagan’s longform article “The Satoshi Affair,” will delve into the mystery surrounding the elusive creator of the world’s most revolutionary digital currency, blending investigative journalism with captivating storytelling.

“This film will be akin to watching The Social Network without knowing who the Mark Zuckerberg character might actually be,” Sacks remarked. “I’m delighted that we have the correct team in place to bring O’Hagan’s investigation, and the events since that period, to life.”

Producers David Sacks and Daniel Brunt optioned the article and took it to longtime collaborator Mark Goffman, who is adapting the screenplay and producing with Sacks and Brunt. Producing for Getaway Entertainment are Damiano Tucci, Banks and Arwen Elys Dayton.

Venom is a wild card. He always has been in the pages of Marvel Comics, but that has rung even truer since he has been headlining his own movie franchise. He's unexpected, unpredictable, and completely unwilling to do anything but surprise us. And he does it, time and time again.

Sony's Venom movies aren't exactly critical masterpieces (all three have been negatively-received by critics) but they are audience sensations, with fans typically responding well to them. They know they aren't high art, but they are equally aware of the fact that the Tom Hardy-led movies are good old-fashioned entertainment.
