A day later, Erin Foster is still “pretty shook” by her show “Nobody Wants This” scoring three Golden Globe nominations. The Netflix rom-com is up for for Best Comedy/Musical Series, Best Comedy/Musical Actress for Kristen Bell, and Best Comedy/Musical Actor for Adam Brody.
“When you’re starting out in your career, you imagine that you’re going to have all these accolades and you have all this big stuff waiting for you. And then you start your career and you realize how different it actually is in reality. You make something that you care about and people don’t watch it or you make something you think is really great and the network doesn’t pick it up,” Foster tells Gold Derby. “At least for myself, I got so used to the runaround and so used to thinking something might be special, but no one else thinking it is.

What if the story of how you met your husband became a runaway hit Netflix series starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody? This is the current reality for Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster. Foster has plenty in common with Bell’s character of Joanne—both host a podcast with their sister and both fell in love with a Jewish man (Foster converted to Judaism)—but Foster is clear that Nobody Wants This is fiction inspired by her life. The series has already been renewed for a second season, and here, in the days before they—and Bell—each received Golden Globes nominations, Brody and Foster got together via Zoom to discuss the delicate balance of portraying a real-life love affair with poetic license, including one particular scene taken directly from experience…
Deadline: Congratulations on being renewed for Season 2.

Olivia Wilde endured a wild reception to her “House” role.
Wilde, who played Doctor Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on the medical drama from 2007 to 2012, said during the Red Sea International Film Festival via Variety that she received “death threats” during her tenure when her character had an interracial relationship.
According to Wilde, the storyline was so shocking that she received “insane death threats constantly coming into the studios,” and extra security was hired. Wilde’s character Remy was also bisexual, which Wilde pointed to how representation has changed in the decade-plus since.
“Seeing what’s on television now, if you watch ‘Euphoria,’ the fact that that my character was shocking and groundbreaking then, it’s like, no, it’s nothing,” Wilde said.
Wilde had also previously played queer bartender Alex Kelly on The CW series “The O.C.” Wilde’s character dates both Adam Brody’s Seth Cohen and Mischa Barton’s...

Nobody Wants This is a rom-com without a magical meet cute. It’s about what happens when two grown-ups meet and are challenged by each other and attracted to each other and know what they want. A lot of the genre is “built on the premise of a big misunderstanding and then you run that as long as you can get away with it,” says co-star Adam Brody, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best television male actor in a musical or comedy series for this role. , “they know each other, they quickly fall into bed together, and then it’s more of the day-to-day and reality of the situation.”
Brody knows from rom-coms: The California-born actor perfected the archetype of the sweet, nerdy, teenage boyfriend in his early acting roles on Gilmore Girls and The O.C. In the subsequent decades, Brody’s résumé has been decidedly...

It's been a long year that went by in the blink of an eye, but in the midst of all 2024 had offer, there were so many great Netflix shows for us to binge. Some people like to focus on what we didn't get — new seasons of Stranger Things, Wednesday, You, etc. — but think of what we did get.
In 2024, Netflix ended many fan-favorite series, like The Umbrella Academy, Elite, and Vikings: Valhalla, and kicked off the final season of Cobra Kai. There were new seasons of beloved hit such as Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, and Outer Banks. And to top it all off, Netflix managed to release handfuls upon handfuls of new shows the world couldn't stop binge-watching.
While your picks for the best Netflix shows of 2024 might vary, here are four of our biggest highlights of the year, as well as a short list of more excellent picks!

We're getting closer to the end of the year, which means we're running out of time to highlight some of the most underrated shows of the year. For me, the end of the year is always a good time to look back and show a little love to the shows that didn't quite get the response, viewership, or respect from viewers, fans, and critics that they deserved.
If you missed any of the eight underrated shows of 2024, I highly recommend you give them a try when you have a chance. I guarantee you won't be too disappointed.
For this list, I only included new shows. Of course, there are a lot of underrated returning shows that had new seasons in 2024, but I wanted to share the new shows from 2024 that deserved more love and popularity from fans and critics!

Adam Brody revealed how his wife, Leighton Meester, feels about his “Hot Rabbi,” Noah, in Nobody Wants This.
The actor made an appearance on Andy Cohen Live Thursday, where he was asked what the Gossip Girl star thought of people across the internet crushing on her husband after the show in which he stars opposite Kristen Bell debuted on Netflix.
“She’s very proud,” Brody said, jokingly noting that it hasn’t caused any roadblocks for their relationship “yet.” “We’ll see. No. I’d say it’s only a runway. Only smooth runway. We’re such, you know, we’re each other’s biggest fans.”
The Fleishman Is in Trouble actor added that they’ve been together for 10 years at this point, and their opportunities are a good thing, and they’re kind of used to it.
“Any opportunity is an opportunity for both of us,” he said. “I don’t know.

Adam Brody is not totally sure, but he has an estimate of the number of times he’s heard “hot rabbi” since “Nobody Wants This” premiered on Netflix in late September. “Oh, more than I planned to, for sure,” he tells Gold Derby. “I haven’t counted but it’s, you know, in the triple digits, at least.” Watch the video interview above.
The rom-com, which is loosely based on creator Erin Foster‘s life, follows Brody’s “hot rabbi” Noah, who falls for Joanne (Kristen Bell), an agnostic podcaster. The two have to navigate numerous obstacles, religious and non-religious, in their relationship, but there was no speed bump in how quickly audiences fell head over heels for the show — and for Brody once again, 21 years after he made millennial teen girls swoon as another charming, lovable (half-)Jewish character, Seth Cohen, on “The O.C.” Netflix renewed “Nobody Wants This...

Adam Brody will be as surprised about the second season of Nobody Wants This as everyone else.
The 44-year-old actor charmed fans alongside Kristen Bell in the romantic comedy on Netflix earlier this year. In fact, it was such a hit that the streaming platform renewed the show within a month of its premiere!
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Adam provided a timeline for when he and Kristen were expected to begin filming the second season. Beyond that, he joked that he was “blissfully unaware” about what to expect.

“I don’t know much. I’ve sort of taken a blissful ignorance. I mean, they’re hard at work writing it. We’re gonna film it relatively soon,” he said during the interview.
How soon does he mean? Adam told Andy Cohen that the plan was to begin filming in February.

‘Nobody Wants This’ Cast Charmingly Explain the Key to Onscreen Kissing: ‘I Would Open My Mouth Big’
“I had a feeling the world was ready for this nostalgic crossover,” Kristen Bell said at an FYC event for her Netflix rom-com smash “Nobody Wants This” December 4 in NYC. No one ever knows for sure what TV shows are going to hit the zeitgeist, but Bell explained she hoped the dreamy millennial pairing of herself (“Veronica Mars”) and Adam Brody (“The O.C.”) might at least prompt some curious eyeballs.
Boy, did it: Since its September premiere, the 10-episode show about an agnostic podcaster and a kind rabbi falling in love has been a hit for the streamer, and the kind of program that feels like real, non-industry people are actually watching it. (See also: the rise of Hot Rabbi discourse online.) When they were filming it, Brody (Noah) and Bell (Joanne) knew the success would ride on their chemistry.

It's shocking to admit, but 2024 is almost over. We're getting into the second half of the year and nearing the end, which means 2025 is right around the corner. While a number of fan-favorite Netflix shows have made their premieres throughout 2024, there are still a large handful of strike-delayed shows and other big productions confirmed for release in 2025.
Obviously, we had held out hope that most of the biggest Netflix shows would be able to manage a release in 2024 amid challenges from strike delays and other setbacks. A decent amount have premiered, such as The Diplomat season 2 and Outer Banks season 4, but others will just keep us hanging a little bit longer to savor the suspense.
Even though Netflix released the latest seasons of Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, and more in 2024, we're still waiting on some huge titles. Wednesday season 2, Ginny & Georgia season 3, Sweet Magnolias season 4, and Stranger Things...

When it came time to pick the best new television shows of the year, we had a lot of options. Hollywood may have pumped the breaks from peak Peak TV (plus a post-strike slowdown), but there were still so many shows that premiered in 2024 — far more than any one person could ever hope to consume at all, let alone in a timely fashion.
That’s where we come in. This list of the below 15 programs are meant to highlight the best of the new swings this year. There was, finally, a good rom-com on television with Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” featuring the lovely charm of Adam Brody at the height of his powers. FX productions on Hulu continued to be a powerhouse, from the Emmy-dominating “Shogun” in the spring to just-dropped-two-weeks-ago “Say Nothing,” which tells the true story of the Troubles in Ireland and will stick with you long past the final credits.

It was love at first sight for Gossip Girl’s Nate Archibald and Blair Waldorf. Not really but it sort of was for Chace Crawford when he came face-to-face with Leighton Meester for the first time. The Boys actor immediately connected to his “perfect” during Gossip Girl auditions.
Crawford thought Meester was ‘perfect’ when they auditioned for ‘Gossip Girl’
Talking all things Gossip Girl on the Xoxo with Jessica Szohr podcast, hosted by Jessica Szohr who played Vanessa on the CW series, Crawford recalled auditioning to play Nate and meeting Meester.
He read with a number of different actors before meeting Meester in a moment that’s stuck with him. “I got to this big conference room and there was this one girl sitting with her back turned,” Crawford told Szohr.
“I walked all around, I was like, ‘Hi, nice to meet you,’ and Leighton turned around,” the Texas native continued.

Sometimes, you just need to laugh. And in the new comedy The Gutter, from Yassir and Isaiah Lester, you’ll get that chance. The new flick features hilarious performances from Shameik Moore and D’Arcy Carden. It also offers an impressive line up of co-stars including Adam Brody, Rell Battle, Adam Pally, Paul Reiser, and Susan Sarandon. Centering around a miracle bowler, the film offers dramatic actor Shameik a chance to try something fresh. And yes, the man succeeds. The chemistry between Moore and Carden is fantastic.
Recently, I had the chance to chat with Yassir, Isaiah, and the film’s co-lead, D’Arcy Carden. First up, speaking to the filmmakers, they opened up about the process of creating this comedy. It’s a rare thing to see an outrageous and sometimes risky comedy in this day and age. They talked about their approach and giving Moore the chance to be funny.

Will “Wicked” be more popular with the Oscars’ acting branch than we think? Could the brouhaha over Sebastian Stan and “Actors on Actors” help him? Gold Derby editors and experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to answer your burning questions of the week.
It’s “Wicked” mania this week as the long-awaited film hits theaters and continues to rise in various categories in the Oscar odds. Ariana Grande is in fourth place in Best Supporting Actress and Cynthia Erivo is in seventh place in Best Actress. But could its other supporting players coattail? Jonathan Bailey is in 11th place and Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh is way down in 32nd. Plus: Are the musicals subplots underdeveloped?

Tired of long turnaround times for your favorite shows? Have no fear, because “Nobody Wants This” is about to go back into production.
While attending an FYC event at Netflix’s Tudum Theater in Hollywood, the stars of the hit rom-com, Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, spoke to Variety about what’s ahead for their rabbi and gentile podcaster in love.
“We’re shooting in February and hopefully they’ll have it out by September next year,” said Brody of Season 2.
Bell also went into detail about the new creative team brought in to work with creator Erin Foster now that the first season’s executive producer, Steven Levitan, will no longer take an active role.
“We’ve added some delicious people to the mix, [new showrunners] Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, which is very exciting,” Bell said. “Nothing has been completely decided yet, but the writers have been in it for about a month.
