Ilonzh was cast in the recurring role of Devin Gamble back in July, at the same time that Niko Pepaj was upped to series regular status as Alfaro. Devin and Alfaro in turn filled the two open spots on Hondo’s rejiggered 20-Squad team.

The series debuted on streaming and on demand on Nov. 29 followed by its linear debut on Dec. 1. According to Paramount and VideoAmp data, the first episode has drawn 5.1 million viewers globally, which Paramount claims makes it Showtime’s most watched new series in history.

(While Paramount is touting viewers, it’s important to note that, on Paramount+, the company can’t determine how many people are watching via a single stream, or if anyone is actually watching at all. This likely means that Paramount is using “active sub households” as a proxy for streaming viewers.)

Hit U.K. crime drama “The Jetty” is finally making its way across the pond. As the result of some unique dealmaking by BBC Studios, “The Jetty” will be shared by two platforms — BritBox and Hulu — as it launches in the U.S. on Dec. 13.

BBC Studios holds global distribution rights on ‘The Jetty,” which premiered on BBC One and streamed on BBC iPlayer in July. The four episode series, from showrunner Cat Jones, stars Jenna Coleman as Detective Ember Manning, whose investigation into an abused teenager sets her onto a cold case relating to another missing teen, Amy Knightly, who disappeared some decades earlier. Agreeing to star in “The Agency” was an easy yes for Richard Gere given the star was already a fan of the espionage drama’s source material. But differentiating this Paramount+ with Showtime original from the French “The Bureau” was entirely different matter.

“It looked like a movie. It was long-form version of movie storytelling with very rich and complicated characters,” Gere told TheWrap when asked why he enjoyed “The Bureau.” The Canal+ espionage thriller originally ran from 2015 to 2020 and focused on what Gere described as “post-colonial Earth and what culture has done to culture.”

Paddington in Peru was released in the UK earlier this month, with a US release set for the new year. However, fans will have to wait a little longer as Sony Pictures has pushed the release back by a month.

The film was set to hit US theaters on January 17, 2025, but will now debut on February 14, 2025. The Paddington sequel has given StudioCanal its biggest-ever opening with a 3-day total of £9.65 million. The first film opened to £5.1 million, and the sequel grossed £8.2 million in its debut. Seems that audiences can’t get enough of that marmalade-loving bastard. While the reactions to the sequel weren’t nearly as glowing as the first two films (which are damn-near perfect), there’s still a lot of fun to be had. StudioCanal is already developing Paddington 4 as well as a new TV series.

On the Wednesday, November 20 episode of The Today Show, Richard Gere promoted The Agency, his new spy thriller.

Today played a clip from the 10-episode series, which is a Paramount+ and Showtime project.

The video helped set up Gere’s whole segment. But the clip also cut off right before Gere’s character flipped his middle finger — showing the actor making the gesture in the studio instead.

The tech giant has ordered The Secret Lives of Animals, a ten-part docuseries narrated by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville.

It is the latest wildlife project for the streamer, which has previously aired series including The Year Earth Changed, Tiny World, Earth at Night in Color, Prehistoric Planet, Big Beasts and Earthsounds.

The Secret Lives of Animals will launch on December 18 and feature never-before-seen footage of rare animal behaviors, highlighting the intelligence of the natural world.

It is Bonneville’s latest nature docuseries; he previously narrated Netflix’s The Hidden Lives of Pets.

It also marks the third collaboration between the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and Apple TV+, following Prehistoric Planet and The Year Earth Changed.

The series will highlight 77 unique species in 24 countries over three years, many captured on film for the first time.

Paddington in Peru charmed UK & Ireland audiences this weekend with the biggest opening of the year for a British-produced movie, and the best since 2021’s No Time to Die. What’s more, the three-day £9.65M ($12.4M) launch is the highest-ever for Studiocanal with the little marmalade-loving bear going from strength to strength. The 2014 original opened to £5.1M, and the 2017 sequel did £8.2M in its debut. Combined, the previous two films grossed $600M worldwide.

The No. 1 debut for the Dougal Wilson-directed threequel drew an audience of an estimated 1.2M across the UK & Ireland since releasing on Friday.

But there’s only one “Paddington 2,” which is literally one of the best-reviewed motion pictures in history. A decade ago, the polite, Peruvian furball with a hankering for fruit preserves stormed the box office — and our hearts — with his first cinematic outing. Then Paddington 2 proved to be The Godfather Part II of adorable comedies, enhancing pretty much every aspect of the original and even proving a bonding experience for Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal in The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent. Keeping that triumphant roll going was always going to be a tough order. And so it proves — while this threequel provides laughs and charm and two new A-list bad’uns, there’s something intangible missing. The marmalade has lost a bit of its zest.

The upcoming third Downton Abbey film will pay tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, who portrayed Violet Crawley throughout the popular television series and films. Dame Maggie, who passed away in 2024 at age 89, had already completed filming her scenes prior to her death.

Hugh Bonneville, who plays Robert Crawley, recently discussed details about the upcoming film. He said the movie will serve as a “great lasting tribute” to Dame Maggie and her legacy within the Downton Abbey franchise. According to Bonneville, wrapping up all the character storylines in this final installment will give fans a “proper” conclusion.

The film is set to resume at Downton Abbey and will focus on saying goodbye to all the beloved characters, including a special farewell for Dame Maggie’s Violet Crawley. Producer Gareth Neame echoed that the film aims to honor one of its most important stars. Fellow producer Julian Fellowes wrote the screenplay to provide closure for the fans.

If you don’t know, the 60-year-old actor will be back for the third film in the franchise, which will be released in September, 2025.

In a new interview, he confirmed that it’s “probably” the final film in the franchise.

“We finished a third — and I think probably final — Downton Abbey film this summer, which will come out next September and that is a wonderful sort of closing off of all the stories, so it’s a proper film for the fans,” Hugh told The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in a new interview. News that this film will be the final one isn’t exactly surprising information, as it confirms what another cast member previously shared.

He did give a few details, including how they’ll be saying goodbye to the late Dame Maggie Smith.
