His college pals were Richard Carpenter and Karen Carpenter.
Wrote famous Carpenters songs including: "Top Of The World", "I Need To Be In Love", and "Yesterday Once More".
He was in a failed rock band called "Spectrum".
John graduated 1964 from San Pedro High School, San Pedro, CA.
