Over 10 films to date and an 11th scheduled for late September of 2025, Saw is a franchise that rivals most in terms of both output and fandom. It had a run of 7 straight films over 7 years which began with the out of nowhere Saw in 2004 and culminating with Saw 3D in 2010. Its consistency may have trailed off temporarily with scattered entries following in 2017, 2021, and 2023, but the series as a whole is well known and has branched off into nearly every conceivable type of media. From comics and novels to video games and toys, Saw may just be primed to start another legendary run in the 2020s. Saw III was a runaway train that is still the highest grossing film in the series, but it was almost not even made after the original creators were done. With traps that were some of the most creative and even including Tobin Bell’s favorite...

As movies like Bone Tomahawk and Tremors 4 have proven, horror and Westerns are two great tastes that taste great together. I always like to hear that another horror / Western blend is in the works – so I was glad to see The Hollywood Reporter announce that the folk horror thriller The Wolf and the Lamb, which is set “during the western expansion of the 1870s,” is coming our way. Cassandra Scerbo of the Sharknado franchise and Adrianne Palicki of The Orville star in the film, which is currently in production, with filming taking place in Montana.
The Wolf and the Lamb marks the feature writing and directing debut of Michael Schilf. Scerbo is taking on the role of a widowed school teacher searching for her only son, who is the latest child to go missing in a tight-knit mining camp. But when the son miraculously returns, he is more monster than man.

Truth or Dare‘s Cassandra Scerbo, John Wick actor Adrianne Palicki, Hostile‘s Q’orianka Kilcher and Braveheart‘s Angus Macfadyen have boarded The Wolf and the Lamb, a folk horror/thriller from writer and director Michael Schilf.
The genre pic takes place during the western expansion of the 1870s and is shooting in Montana. Scerbo plays a widowed school teacher searching for her only son, played by Jaydon Clark (The Rookie), who is the latest child to go missing in a tight-knit mining camp. Scerbo is known for playing Nova Clark in the Sharknado film series and appearances on the Grand Hotel and Guerrila TV series. Friday Night Lights alum Palicki is also known for turns on ABC’s Marvel drama Agents of Shield and Seth MacFarlane’s Fox dramedy The Orville.

Saw X appears to have reinvigorated the Saw franchise, so while we wait for Saw XI to come along, we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to take a look back at the previous films in the series to compile a list of the Best Saw Traps. There were many traps to choose from, but the idea here was to narrow it down to the best trap (or trap scene) from each individual movie. Check out our picks below, and let us know what your favorite traps were in the comments section.
Saw – Reverse Bear Trap
Of course this one had to make the list, since it’s the most popular trap in the entire franchise and the one most strongly remembered by the general audience. The reverse bear trap caught so much attention when it showed up in the first film, they brought it back in a couple of the sequels.

Saw is the series that just won’t stop. Some horror fans love these movies, others write them off as nothing but torture porn, but movie-goers usually show up to give them healthy box office returns. Not only did the most recent film, Saw X, wind up making over $100 million worldwide, but it also earned the franchise’s best reviews since the original. Tobin Bell received raves for his shockingly empathetic portrayal of Jigsaw, and in welcome news to fans of the franchise, Sax XI is already in production for a release this fall! But, how does the entire series rank? You can check out our Saw Movies Ranked list below – then let us know how you would rank the movies by leaving a comment!

Academy Award-winning visionary filmmaker Kevin Costner directs New Line Cinema’s vast Horizon: An American Saga Chapters One and Two, a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. A story of America too big for one film, this true cinematic event also stars Costner, who co-writes with Jon Baird (The Explorers Guild) and produces through his Territory Pictures.
In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, Horizon: An American Saga explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.

Kevin Costner‘s two-part western epic passion project is just over the horizon. The first part of Horizon: An American Saga premieres next month and Warner Bros. has just released the new official second trailer for the film. The Yellowstone actor has returned to the director’s seat for the first time in over twenty years for these films. Costner began work on this story in 1988 and he has more movies planned. The main character that he invented for this film in 1988 was so important to him that he even named his son, Hayes, after him. He hopes the movies can be a big franchise and that years from now, people can binge-watch hours of Horizon in theaters.

We’re big champions of physical media here at JoBlo, and despite ongoing claims that it will soon be going the way of the Dodo, we’ve yet to see its demise. Kevin Costner is also a big fan of physical media, and when asked by Deadline about the supposed “death of the DVD,” he was quick to jump to its defence.
“Death of the what? DVD is not dead, at all,” Kevin Costner said. “That’s what they’d have you believe. Maybe it’s not making the same amount of money, but just try to go ask for that from the studio. They won’t give that up. A lot of people that like my movies, they can’t get to a theater, and they’re waiting for that moment. You can’t make your film for the opening weekend. You have to make it for its life.

Hold onto your horses, folks! Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga is riding into CinemaCon 2024 to share the latest about the Yellowstone and Dances With Wolves star’s Western epic. On Monday, we learned the first part of Horizon: An American Saga, which will debut at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19. Still, attendees moseying into CinemaCon got a new look at the sprawling drama of how settlers won the West.
During the Warner Bros. panel, Costner addressed the CinemaCon crowd, saying the movie is a bit about the promise of America. The idea was that if you were mean enough, tough enough, you could take what you wanted, but in the process, you stepped on people who had been here for 1000 years. But the film does not pass judgment, and that story, to him, was drama.

Kevin Costner is hoping a few years from now, moviegoers will have the opportunity to binge four Horizon movies in theaters.
“Maybe a year and a half, two years from now, they will come (to theaters) for 12 hours,” he told the assembled crowd of theater owners Tuesday at CinemaCon, where he teased his two-part Horizon films.

Kevin Costner’s hugely ambitious western saga arrives this summer: here’s the new trailer, but no UK release yet.
Regular readers of this site may be already aware just how much I’m looking forward to the most ambitious Kevin Costner project in years. It’s Horizon: An American Saga, a series of four films that Costner is part-funding. Just as with his last directorial effort, the brilliant 2003 western Open Range, he’s independently funded the movie, and brought in distributors afterwards.
In the US, it’s New Line Cinema – and thus Warner Bros – that’s going to be releasing the first two films, both of which are coming out this summer. The first lands in June, the second lands in August, and both are getting US cinema releases.
As far as I’ve been able to ascertain, and heck I’ve been looking, there’s been no deal...

Kevin Costner on Monday shared on socials a first trailer for Horizon, the two-part Western epic that played a role in his growing frustrations with his Yellowstone experience.
Before the WGA strike began last May, Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan had completed scripts for the back half of the show’s fifth season that did not include Costner, whose alleged demands had been widely reported. Per the industry-insider newsletter Puck, Costner’s reps later expressed his desire to return for Season 5B and possibly more.

Part one of “Horizon: An American Saga,” the multi-film Western epic that Kevin Costner left “Yellowstone” to make, will hit theaters on June 28, with part two to follow on August 16. Warner Bros. released a trailer for the two-part film on Monday.
The trailer promises a sprawling, colorful, violent Western film about Manifest Destiny. It’s about the settling of the titular town during the years of the Civil War, as the American frontier pushes westward and settlers come into conflict with the people indigenous to the land. “There’s no army on this Earth that are going to stop those wagons coming,” a Union Army officer played by Costner’s “Yellowstone” co-star Danny Huston warns in something like the trailer’s thesis statement.
Costner wrote the script for “Horizon” with Jon Baird, produces with Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard, directs, and stars. It’s his first time directing a film since 2003’s “Open Range,...

Few Hollywood stars alive today are as closely associated with the Western as Kevin Costner. From Dances With Wolves, to Open Range, to Wyatt Earp and beyond, he’s long seemed at home in the Old West, telling stories of American history. Not to mention, in recent years he’s rustled up millions of viewers as the figurehead of Yellowstone, one of the biggest TV phenomenons of the last decade. But it’s now that he’s about to unleash his all-out Western epic – a long-gestating passion project titled Horizon: An American Saga, in which he stars as well as directing, co-writing (along with Jon Baird), and produces. It is, in fact, two feature-length movies – actually set to be four, if he continues to the full fruition of his vision – to be released cinematically this summer. And he’s invested in this in a huge way – literally, since it’s...

Sorting through America’s history is a Herculean task. Humans built the nation with blood, sweat, and tears, watering the soil with memory, pain, and perseverance. Today, Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga trailer explores the settlement of America’s Western frontier from the Indigenous groups who blessed the land to those who occupied it by force. Horizon will be Kevin Costner‘s first time directing a movie since Open Range in 2003. He also busted out his directing chops for The Postman and Dances with Wolves, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award for Best Director.
Kevin Costner’s Horizon will “span 15 years in the settlement of America’s Western frontier, and focus on both the settlers as well as the Indigenous groups that first occupied the land.”
Here’s the official synopsis for Horizon: An American Saga courtesy of Warner Bros.:

In 2007, the "Saw" franchise took a very big swing with the aim of setting the movies up for years to come. Darren Lynn Bousman returned to the director's chair for the third time with "Saw IV," which aimed to move beyond Tobin Bell's John Kramer by giving Jigsaw a path forward without the man who started these twisted, bloody games in the first place. The film's ending not only offers one of the biggest twists in the entire series — but also one of the most important. Divorced of everything that came after, it was a big, bold, critical change in direction.
For those who may need a brief refresher, Bell plays the central figure of the films as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, a man with incurable cancer who dedicates himself to "saving" people in a way that he sees fit. He selects people who are ungrateful for the life...

You can't keep a good Jigsaw Killer down. Even though the artist formerly known as John Kramer (Tobin Bell) first showed up onscreen as a man with terminal cancer, and subsequently died in "Saw III," we're now nine sequels deep, and only one of them ("Spiral: From the Book of Saw") didn't include him in the cast somehow. Mostly this boils down to an ever-more-elaborate series of flashbacks, accomplices, copycats, and detailed instructions and recordings made for future deathtraps.
All of Jigsaw's traps are the last place you'd want to be, but they vary a lot in difficulty level. Some simply require following his instructions exactly while others involve either forgiving or murdering someone else. Still more depend on cooperation, and most of them deliver a twisted form of therapy, with the patient urged to get over their baggage in the next 30 seconds or so if they want to live.

Jamie and Claire return to Scotland in ‘Outlander’ Season 7

If 2017's “Steel Rain” was an idealistic, rather narrowed down look at the quest for Korean reunification and the forces that may come between that, then its sequel, “Steel Rain 2: Summit” is the broader, more refined version of the same vision. It may be entirely unrelated to its predecessor but it is hard to avoid making comparisons, especially given both share the same ambitious end goal. However, where the latest instalment thrives is in its dedication to acknowledging the rest of the cogs in the cluttered machine that is the strained inter-Korea relations, and the ways that all sides can manipulate each other in the quest for fiscal, and non-fiscal, power and gains.
“Steel Rain 2: Summit” is available from Echelon Studios
