Back in 1998, John Carpenter’s classic slasher Halloween got a “twenty years later” sequel called Halloween H20 (watch it Here) – and we’re now further removed from the release of H20 than it was from the release of the first Halloween. The film is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and as part of the celebration Paramount will be giving it a 4K steelbook release! The street date is September 26th, and copies can be pre-ordered at This Link. An image of the steelbook case can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Starring original Halloween heroine Jamie Lee Curtis, H20 acknowledged what happened in Halloween II (since Curtis was in it), but ignored the events of the Curtis-less parts 4, 5, and 6. Released to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the original Halloween, H20 ignored the events of the Curtis-less parts 4, 5, and 6. Twenty years later, Curtis came back to Halloween again for a movie that would ignore every Halloween film except the original, H20 included.

20th Century Fox unveiled Bryan Singer’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the first time at guild screenings in New York and Los Angeles over the weekend, and the buzz around Rami Malek’s performance as Freddie Mercury soared in first reactions posted on social media. While the movie as a whole is getting a mixed response (Kyle Buchanan of The New York Times calls the movie a “glorified Wikipedia entry”), Malek is being singled out for his “outstanding” lead role.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” chronicles the rise of rock band Queen and covers the time between the group’s formation and their iconic Live Aid performance in 1985. Malek has assured Queen fans the film also explores Mercury’s sexuality and AIDS diagnosis. The supporting cast includes Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Aidan Gillen, and Tom Hollander.

A news blast went out today, with some updates in regards to the Anchor Bay/Scream Factory Blu-ray release of Halloween: The Complete Collection. This news blast, also included a screenshot comarison, pitting the old bootleg edition of the Producer’s Cut of Halloween 6, against the new HD transfer. Also included was some updates in regards to the extras that are included with the set. Even though I’ll likely receive some form of review copy of this title, I already have my Deluxe Edition Pre-ordered, just in case. You should probably click here to do that yourself. Scream Factory and Anchor Bay’s Halloween The Complete Collection Blu-ray box set was recently announced to come out on September 23rd. The 15-disc collection includes all of the Halloween movies together for the first time, including the rare producer’s cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. An updated list of special features have been revealed that should please fans of genre favorite Tom Atkins and Sean Clark’s Horror’s Hallowed Grounds.

Scream Factory/Anchor Bay's release of Halloween: The Complete Collection Blu-ray set is finally giving the movie back to fans.

A lot at home and a lot in theaters this week. Among my press screenings over the past seven days I had Hesher, Water for Elephants and Bridesmaids. One I've already reviewed and the others are on the horizon.

Then, on top of the films I have below, I also watched Brian De Palma's Blow Out, which comes out on Criterion Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday and I'll have a review of that one shortly.

However, one thing I will mention now about the Blow Out Blu-ray is one feature that wasn't mentioned when it was first announced, an HD version of De Palma's 1967 feature Murder a la Mod, which is a highly experimental film, but one that proves as long as a good filmmaker is at the helm even something that's not exactly great can be quite interesting.
