When playing Patty Halliwell, the mother of the three witches on Charmed (1998), she was receiving more mail individually than any of the three stars.

Has acted opposite Wes Ramsey, in both "Charmed" and "General Hospital". In "Charmed" Wes played Wyatt, and Finola played Patty, they were grandmother and grandson. In "General Hospital" Wes plays Heinrich Faison/Peter August, son of Finola's Alex Merrick and nephew of Finola's Anna Devane.

Her father died of a heart attack in 1985.
