She was awarded the 1987 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as space marine Private Vasquez in Aliens (1986).

Was considered for the role as the Enterprise-D's chief of security on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). Her role in Aliens (1986) as Private Vasquez was the inspiration for the role of Tasha Yar which eventually went to Denise Crosby.

Has appeared in three movies directed by James Cameron: Aliens (1986), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and Titanic (1997).

Managing her own lingerie boutique called Jenette Bras in Los Angeles, California, known for its slogan "The alphabet starts at D". (September 2012)
