After the Covid-19 pandemic hampered its rollout of sci-fi thriller Lumina, Goldove Entertainment opted to handle distribution itself instead of working with a sales agent. Plans included creating dozens of life-sized standees to advertise the movie, conducting a sweepstakes with tens of thousands of dollars in prizes and hiring a company that could get the film into theaters. At the end of the day, it spent roughly $4 million on marketing for a title it hoped to make at least $20 million the opening week.

On Monday, Goldove Entertainment sued distribution partner Wild About Movies, which allegedly lied about the number of theaters that would show the movie, for fraud and breach of contract. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, faults the company for the film’s underwhelming box office performance and seeks damages equivalent to its marketing spend.

Italian indie thriller “The Contract,” starring Kevin Spacey as a character named “The Devil,” is set to world premiere at the Cairo Film Festival this week, without Spacey on the red carpet in the Egyptian capital’s Opera House.

In the film, Spacey plays a role that has been described in promotional materials as somewhat akin to Al Pacino’s role in “Devil’s Advocate”– or as Satan who takes the guise of a human lawyer. It is episode four of DWTS Season 33 and there were back-to-back episodes this week but for a good reason. Last week, the show was preempted due to the Vice Presidential Debate. DWTS Hair Metal Night

On Monday, October 7th, DWTS kicked off with Soul Train Night. Chandler Kinney and her partner, Brandon Armstrong were at the top of the leaderboard. Right behind them was The Bachelorette, Jenn Tran, and The Bachelor, Joey Graziadei. At the bottom of the board were Reginald VelJohnson and Emma Slater. Despite the low scores, fans just adore him and cannot stop voting for him. How will things change tonight? It is anybody’s guess.

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons handed out the first 10 of the season to model Brooks Nader when he sat in as guest judge for “Hair Metal Night,” on Tuesday’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” but that score was mysteriously lowered to a 9 in the final tally.

Although he held up a 10 paddle, cohost Julianne Hough told Simmons that he had “actually keyed in” a 9, which was added to Nader’s overall score.

Viewers cringed at the 75-year-old rocker’s comments about the female dancers’ bodies, which caused more online chatter than the two celebs who were sent home, oldest (and stiffest) dancers: Eric Roberts and Reginald VelJohnson.

Your votes — however many you decided to register on Sept. 24– helped Dancing with the Stars to hit a major milestone. More than 14 million votes were tabulated that night, the most received on a single episode in series history! Either that means you really love you some Ilona Maher or you would have done whatever it took to make sure Anna Delvey was given her walking papers.

And get this: it didn’t stop there. A whopping 15 million voted on hair metal night! It had to be all the bag wigs and the presence of special guest judge-cum-world renowned ballroom expert Gene Simmons, right? Clearly, DWTS fans are clearly more engaged than ever, which is a good sign for ABC. That means we’ll have TV’s best variety show for years to come!

Kiss’s Gene Simmons will join the panel of DWTS judges to see who rocks on or rolls out in a double elimination evening, whittling down the celebrity contestants even further.

Dancing With The Stars Season 33 took a week off on October 1 due to the Vice Presidential debate. But fans felt delighted to welcome back the contestants on October 7 with Soul Train Night.

The DWTS Season 33 Contestants Groove On Soul Train Night

To kick off Soul Train Night, reality star Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy began with a Quickstep to Aretha Franklin’s “Think.” Although Phaedra admitted the routine was difficult for her, the judges raved over her performance, including guest judge Rosie Perez. They gave Phaedra and Val a 30/40, earning them their first 8s of the season.

Rugby player Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten also impressed judges with their Foxtrot to “Lady Marmalade” by Labelle, earning a 30/40 as well.

The first elimination for “Dancing With the Stars” Season 33 saw the most fan votes the ABC ballroom dancing competition show has ever seen.

As “DWTS” geared up for its first elimination of the season during its Sept. 24 episode, the show scored over 14 million fan votes, per ABC, marking the most fan votes ever received for a single episode over the course of the show’s 30+ seasons.

The news marks the first time in series history that the network has revealed the number of fan votes an episode received. ABC did not, however, provide a breakdown of how many votes went to each celebrity participant. Viewers can vote up to 10 times per episode, and can divide their votes between their celebrities of choice.
