Thwarted a purse-snatching while attending a martial arts tournament in Reno, NV. Along with fellow martial artists Ronnie Hair and Russ Fokes, Wilson chased down a thief who had snatched an old woman's purse in a hotel and held him in submission until the police arrived.

Wilson was knocked out in one round by Glenn McMorris on March 5, 1980 in South Florida and lost the Florida Middleweight Kickboxing Title, it was the only knockout loss that Wilson suffered in his 27-year kickboxing career.
