Bert Spencer lost a leg in 1960 in a stagecoach during a filming of a "Laramie" television episode. Spencer 50, was "riding shotgun" atop the four-horse stage as it plunged downhill and overturned, trapping him beneath. His leg was amputated at St. Joseph Hospital, Burbank.
