- Jack B. Sowards was born on March 18, 1929 in Texarkana, Arkansas, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), The Streets of San Francisco (1972) and The Bold Ones: The Lawyers (1969). He died on July 8, 2007 in Valley Village, California, USA.
- Taught screen writing classes at Santa Monica College and U.C.L.A. where he met Whitney Scott Bain who became his star pupil and good friend.
- Children: Catharine Amanda Sowards, C. Ray Stahl, Constance Roxana Sowards, Jacqueline Ann Sowards. Grandchildren: Savannah Honey Dittman, Shane Alexis Sowards-Casas.
- Diagnosed with advanced amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
