His play, "Island of the Blue Dolphins" at the Lifeline Theatre in Chicago, Illinois was awarded the 1995 Joseph Jefferson Award Citation for New Work.
James is the author of two novels: Still Life Las Vegas (St. Martin's Press, 2015), which was a Lambda Literary finalist, and the YA novel All Kinds of Other (Quill Tree Books, 2021).
